My family and I stayed at the house next to this one listed here on VRBO and had an absolute blast!! Randy and Angie are awesome hosts! From the minute we got there until we sadly had to go they were so accommodating, generous, and welcoming! After we returned home my niece (6 y/o) said, "I miss Randy and Angie!" I said, "I know, I wish we could've stayed another week!" My nephew (4 y/o) says, "I wish we could stay a hundred million weeks!" :) Mille Lacs Lake is huge! There is a cool rock island full of birds and a "beach" area that you can hop out of your boat to go swimming. The lake was perfect for swimming-right off the docks. Only recommendation is to bring water shoes. There are some rocks initially but no weeds and you can walk forever beyond the end of the docks and the water is still waist to chest deep, which is great for the little ones!! The house has everything you need and is comfortable! We rented jet skis, and a pontoon for a couple days. My dad caught a decent sized small mouth bass. We had the shuttle pick us up (at the house) and brought us to Grand Casino for dinner and the kids played in the arcade which they loved. We never made it to Eddy's (about a mile away) but have it on the to-do-list when we return. If you're looking to get away this is the place!! We definitely will be returning!!
We spent two nights at this location and it was no where near enough time here. I am writing this as I am finishing up our stay here. First off Randy and Angie were amazing hosts. They were polite, caring, helpful and accommodating. We booked at the last minute and when we arrived everything was ready. Upon our arrival Randy and Angie came over to introduce themselves. The next day we had a bunch of extra family members come to spend the day with us and even though Angie and Randy had plans they changed them to allow us time to have an amazing time riding jet skis. They spent time visiting with all of our family and helping everyone have a great time. Now for other looking at renting the house is very furnished but remember to bring towels both bath and beach towels (I forgot :( ). The house is a nice lake cabin right across from some dock areas which also has great shade spots to just sit and enjoy the lake and the kids had a blast playing in the water! Not far down the road is a very sandy beach area that has shallow water for a great distance and is great for little kids. The cabin has a large front yard with plenty of space to relax and the kids to run. There is a grocery store and casino 4 miles down the road. There is a gas station about a minute from the cabin. Thanks again Randy and Angie we had a great time and will be back and I will for sure recommend this place to others.
It was a great vacation from start to finish! The cabin was nice and spacious and very clean. The rental prices for the cabin, boats, and jet skis were reasonably priced. What really made the stay amazing was the exceptional hospitality. Randy and Angie were amazing. It felt like renting from a friend. I have worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade and my experience with them far exceeded my expectations. We will be back next year, hopefully for a longer stay!
Cabin worked out great for us. Thanks Randy for also letting us show up a couple of hours early to drop off are gear, so we could get on the lake. The fishing was good!
OK if you’re a fisherman but not for a family getaway. The five star reviews had to be false- there’s no way this cabin deserved a great rating. The cabin itself and the surroundings were not very nice. I was too polite to tell Randy that I didn’t feel comfortable there and admittedly tried to get out of staying there. For the price I expected better. There is highway noise directly behind the cabin and another busy road right in front. Not ideal if you have dogs or young kids. There were empty fish houses in the driveway and cabins right next to this one (not private at all). The online picture of the fire pit was not the same one. This one was right next to the road and junky. In my opinion there were NO redeeming qualities to this place. Randy demanded cash as soon as we got there. Again, my Mom instincts kicked in and I didn’t feel comfortable. I had my brother in law help me talk to the owner but the conversation was heated and I knew we weren’t going to resolve anything. Once my family and I were safely back in our car and on the road I felt better but completely disgusted by the whole experience. VRBO has been notified and I hope that another family doesn’t fall into this trap. Yes, I didn’t receive a refund and fully expect Randy to NOT do the right thing. Expensive lesson learned!
We had a fun time! The cabin was clean. It could be updated, but a great value for the space. Randy and Angie were great! We asked if they had any wine glasses one evening; they said no, but they usually get the things the guests ask for. The next day, there was a box of 6 wine glasses sitting on the table for us! They were very friendly and accommodating!
This is a straight forward honest fishing cabin. If you're looking for the Ritz Carlton, keep looking, otherwise if you want a nice little place to spread out with a direct lake view and access, then this it the one. Randy was great to deal with and worked hard to make sure that we had the amenities needed for our stay.
My friends and I recently spent the weekend at Randy's Rental and had the best time! The cabin was very clean and perfect for a large group. There was a nice swimming area across the street and a nice front yard for games.
I have to say that we were a little leery about renting this cabin. Reviews were iffy and the photos of the inside made it seem small and cramped. We were genuinely surprised by what awaited our girls getaway weekend. First the pictures posted do not do the place justice, it is very spacious and set up very nicely. The rooms were tidy and there were plenty of extra blankets for the folks who slept on the couches. The fridge was clean and the stove worked properly. New dish and hand soap were in the kitchen. Only downsides were these: 1.) There is no welcome letter inside telling the occupant where certain things are. We accidentally blew a fuse and after about a 10 minute search for the fuse box we had to call Randy - he didn't leave his number and we ended up having to Google "Randy's Rentals" and calling the number listed there. Just a thought for the future. (Also it would have been nice to know that Randy was staying in the trailer 3 feet away from the kitchen door, more as a courtesy so that we would make sure not too be too loud or rambunctious late at night). 2.) If you do not like spiders, renter beware. We know that being up north (especially near a large lake) that bugs and critters are just a way of life. However, there was an abundance of spider webs - one web was about 3 feet wide was directly on top of the door. We probably killed about 15 spiders over the two days we were there. 3.) While the space seemed cleaned for the most part the screens, fans, window AC units, and the tables probably had not been fully wiped down in sometime. We brought along plastic table cloths so this wasn't that great of an issue but just an observation. The bathroom was very clean which was greatly appreciative - though the water pressure from the well was fairly low but the hot water was always readily available. Though there was a box of lucky charms that was left behind on top of the fridge by a previous renter. We truly enjoyed our weekend.
The property was clean but could use some updates. The lake was beautiful but across a frontage road (not busy). Nice fire pit. Good kitchen. Had fun.
