This is a great one-bedroom condo in the Glacier Lodge & Suites that has been upgraded with new carpet, slate floors, granite counters, natural wood cupboards, furniture and linens.
Glacier Lodge is in a wonderful location in the Upper Village across from the Chateau Whistler at the base of Blackcomb. Definitely great ski in and ski out location (and we are also close to all of the summer activities). The high-speed covered Wizard chairlift that accesses Blackcomb is less than a short block through the upper village from our condo complex (less than a 3 minute walk in your ski boots!). If you want to use the gondolas to access Blackcomb and Whistler, there is a free shuttle bus that stops across the street for the 5 minute ride to the Village, however, with the Peak-to-Peak lift you can access both mountains from the top.
Our unit has a deck that overlooks the courtyard and swimming pool/ hot tub area. Glacier Lodge has a large heated outdoor pool, two (2) outdoor hot tubs and a nice exercise/workout room.
We have a nice gas fireplace for those cold nights (or just atmosphere!).
Description Cont. : Our bedroom has a king size bed and ample closet space for your ski & golf clothes. There is a comfortable queen size sofa bed in the living room. Our unit sleeps 2-4 comfortably.
Since we use our condo ourselves it equipped with all the comforts of home, TV, Stereo, VCR/DVD player, knapsack (for trips to the grocery store, shopping or packing your picnic) and a drawer full of books and games. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, toaster, blender, hand mixer, rice cooker, pots & pans, cooking staples, basic spices, etc. There are coin operated laundry facilities on each floor of the complex. There is also an ice machine on our floor.
The Upper Village has great restaurants and lounges, or - we are a pleasant 5-10 minute walk down a scenic path that leads you over a covered bridge over the river and through the trees to the village center for the shops and restaurants. The walk is great, especially after a dinner at one of Whistler's terrific restaurants.
There is a free Whistler shuttle bus that stops across the street for those who don't want to walk to the Village. There is really no need to move your car out of the underground parking garage once you have arrived at the Glacier Lodge in Whistler.
Also, Glacier Lodge guests receive free ski and snowboard storage at Affinity Sports, the ski shop in the building on the Plaza Level (for a small fee they wax and tune too!).
We only ask 3 things: no smoking, no pets and no ski or snowboard equipment in the unit (but there is free secure equipment storage on the main floor).
Other Activities: Whistler is known for its World Class downhill skiing and riding, in addition there is great Cross Country Skiing. In the summer there is are fabulous golf courses to try. Our building also has a Fitness Center and Swimming Pool and there is a Skating Arena near by, You can also try Heli-Skiing, Zip-Lining or Bungee Jumping, tons of things to do!
Other Amenities: No Equipment allowed in Condo, however, there is free storage for your Skis, Boards, Bikes, etc. Talk to me if you have questions about equipment storage. Great location within steps from the Chateau Whistler. Shops and restaurants right outside our building doors. Pub and wine and beer shop on the main level. Ski & board rentals available in building. Ski shop also has hats, gloves, long underwear, etc. in case you forget something!
Sauna: No Sauna but a good work out room and exercise equipment. Video Library: We have a collection of Videos and DVDs suitable for family and general entertainment.
Was in town with my wife to do some snowboarding and this place was perfect. Spacious and clean with everything we needed to feel like home.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The host was very accommodating and left us an extensive "how to" list for whistler and the property which helped a lot. We used the hot tub every day after skiing, a much needed relaxation on such a huge mountain. Location was fantastic as well!
We will be coming back to stay at this condo.
Close walk to the upper village, restaurants are walking distance, pool and hot tubs are good, overall a nice place to stay.
Great location in Upper Village. Little market just across the road and many nice restaurants nearby. The condo is small but was perfect for the two of us. The kitchen had just about everything you could need if you prefer cooking. We like to grill so having the Bbq was nice. Glacier Lodge were very helpful with any questions we had. The owner of the condo, Julie, is very responsive and very kind. We will definitely visit again.
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our five night stay here. Check in went smoothly, and the condo was very clean. It was very convenient to walk to the new Blackcomb Gondola each morning (after a quick stop at Portobello for coffee and breakfast). It's also a short walk, around 10 minutes, to the main village. I hope to come back to Whistler sometime soon, and I hope the condo is available again when we do.
This one-bedroom apartment was absolutely ideal for our stay at Whistler. I will try to stay here again. Glacier Lodge is situated about 100 yards from the Blackcomb gondola, and on the way from the Lodge to the lift you walk past everything you need -- good restaurants (liked Fifi's), a good bar (Handle Bar), and gear shops. The parking underneath is great. The unit is perfect for 2-4 people, depending on how well you tolerate one another, is well-appointed with all the dishes and gear you need to cook real meals (we did), and is very clean. The showers work great and are hot, the towels are good, the bedroom is quiet and dreamy. People are packed into the two jacuzzis outside after the lifts close, so you will hear folks partying, but they cut it off at 10 p.m. sharp and if you're not too fussy about the cleanliness of your hot tubs you'll end up in there too. The desk staff is super helpful with any problem or need you may have. The owner of the unit, Julie, is fantastic and will send you info on every possible detail. Highly recommend.
This is a very nice 1 bedroom unit. The building was going through some parking lot renovations, and we had construction noise throughout the day, but this was not the fault of the owner, plus we were away biking, swimming in the lakes and playing disc golf during most of the day. The location is perfect for those wanting to bike around Lost Lake and on its "Zappa trails".
What a perfect stay! We never felt like we were missing something during our one week summer stay here. Julie has made sure the condo is so well stocked with everything you would need for your stay....from the basics of condiments in the kitchen to shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom...leave all that heavy stuff at home. So easy to make breakfast at home (we are smoothie lovers, so having the blender was great), pack snacks for lunch and dinner out. Coffee maker, toaster, kettle, slow cooker, again, everything you would have at home. The unit is very clean and cozy. She provides extra sheets and towels in case of emergency. If you are there for a longer stay you can arrange for more cleaning or if you don't need a mid-week clean, let Julie know before/when you book. Pull-out couch came in handy a few nights-for our daughter to stay over after a few late nights of games (which Julie also has in the unit) and drinks in the village. Location: We love the Upper Village-it's a 10 minute walk along the trail or through the village to get to more of the "centre of activity" - go to the party, don't sleep in it! Amenities: Pool and hot tub were a great way to end most days. The front desk will loan you towels. Always clean and not super busy around the pool. The liquor store (a little pricier than other stores in Whistler) is in the same building and a small store for some basic groceries is in the Fairmont. If you have access to a vehicle - go to Nesters. Bike storage came in super handy for our bikes. Ski and board storage is also provided. Parking: Underground ($20/day). Our daughter lives in Whistler so we often parked her car in lot #1 ($10/day), Free overnight in the summer...and it was a short walk down the trail. Host: Julie is responsive, super helpful. She made our stay seamless. A binder was put together with all of the manuals for each appliance and document that outlines everything you need to know. We would most certainly stay here again! If you're not familiar with area, I would recommend doing the following: Go up Whistler Mountain - tour the area (walk the suspensionbridge) and take the Peak-to-peak across to Blackhombe...this could take all day. Helicopter tour IS A MUST! Hike the Cheakamus trail. Whitewater rafting, ziplining, off-road razors. Rent a bike and bike the Valley trail to Alta, Lost and Green lakes...pack your snacks, drinks and lunch. LOVE THIS PLACE!
The place was as advertized and had lots of little extras that I really appreciated, such as spices and condiments in the kitchen, laundry soap, and a day pack in the closet in case you needed another one. I recommend this place as good value.
