Our first vacation in Kauai could not have gone any better. We enjoyed the north side of the island the best, so Ocean Pool House was perfectly located. The house sits in a beautiful neighborhood with people walking their dogs and neighbors conversing at their mailbox. I loved the feel. It really did seem like a home away from home. With four older kids, I especially enjoyed how safe the area felt. My daughter and I even went to a book sale at the library located next to the entrance of the neighborhood. We stayed at the end of May/June, which natives say is one of their few slow times. The area around the house was so quiet, even with the windows open all day and night, During the day we opened them fully, and at night for safety a piece of wood can limit the opening. We never felt like we needed air-conditioning except for one or two short intervals after a rain when the almost constant breeze stopped momentarily - not overly hot, just a little sticky. No one complained about the temperature while sleeping. One negative about no air-conditioning is hanging swimsuits and towels don't dry overnight, but with a dryer this was not an issue. Standing by the pool fencing, the ocean view is beautiful. It is more difficult to see from inside of the house, but the pool area is picturesque. Each morning I listened to the ocean, and watched as a variety of bird species visited the pool area. My kids loved the pool after each day of exploring the island, but they enjoyed the hot tub the most. Everything was clean and well-maintained with a pool cleaning visit midweek. An absolutely perfect area to grill and watch the kids swim and have fun. I loved the house - perfect for a family to relax and feel at home. It is not fancy but lacks nothing. For me it is easily five stars. If you are looking at decor only, you might notice a little rust on the bathroom light fixture from the ocean air or that it was not professionally decorated. For some, this might matter. I think it was ideal. Samantha was great. She is a real person not one of those people from a call center in a different state/country, who you will never talk with again. It was wonderful to deal with her throughout the entire process and genuinely seemed excited about our trip. She didn't respond instantly (none of my correspondence was urgent), but always answered in a timely manner. Thanks Samantha! I would definitely stay at Ocean Pool House again!
The home is well located for beaches, stores, etc. We were grandparents with grown kids and grandkids. The home fit all of our needs and the grandkids loved the pool. We walked twice daily to check the goony bird chicks and had a great time. The private home was very nice and quiet.
This review is long overdue for such an amazing property. Our extended family of six enjoyed every aspect of the home. The location was great, the house had plenty of space for us to stretch and relax, and the pool was wonderful. We would highly recommend this property.
The Ocean Pool Ocean House has a beautiful view, pool, spa, and yard. The house is spacious and the kitchen is well stocked with many utensils, plates, and pots and pans... There is a washing machine and dryer in the garage. The location of the house is great, with Hanalei and a grocery store and restaurants just down the road. The trail down to the beach was a fun little hike; I recommend wearing tennis shoes as the trail was a bit slippery in flip flops. We went on several excursions while staying at the house: (Captain Andy’s Sunset dinner cruise, Smith’s Family Luau, Princeville ATV and zipline tour, Helicopter tour, and Wailua Falls, and Poipu Beach, Gaylord’s and Koala Rum tour) all of which took us no more than 2 hours to get there. Samantha was a pleasure to work with. We’d love to return for another fun trip to Kauai very soon.
Me, my wife and two children 9 and 11. We were in the islands for a 6-week stay, the first 4-weeks in hotels in Hawaii (Mauna Kea), Lanai (Four Seasons), & Maui Wailea (Four Seasons), Maui Hana (Travassa Hana), Kauai (Grand Hyatt) and ending with 2-weeks at the villa here in Kauai. The hotels were super nice, but if we do this again, we'll be renting a house for all stops. You just cant beat the freedom, and the space so a big plus on value. The house is a perfect size for 4, but could easily host another couple comfortably. The living space is open and airy with a contstant breeze. I'm an AC guy as my children but there wasnt a day wher we needed it (it was 80% sunny and 85+ everyday) but with the constant breenze and numerous ceiling fans you just don't need it... The pool (not so easy to find here) is great and the hot tub which we didnt think we'd use was used every night. the house is situated perfectly (there is a 1 minute walk to a virtually private beach right behind the house). It's on a bluff and has partial sea views which was a real plus. Samantha was great to work with and answered whatever questions I had very quickly. When we return to hanalei we'll be staying here again.
We loved our stay at Ocean Pool House!!! Samantha was SO great to work with! The house was very clean and comfy. The pool was just amazing and our kids used it everyday! I loved listening to all the birds chirping in the mornings and the ocean waves at night sitting by the pool. The neighborhood is great as well. Thank you for such a wonderful vaction experience!
We had a wonderful stay at this home. Kuaui is a beautiful place and this home was a bonus with the pool and hot tub. Samantha was so helpful and easy to work with. Fully stocked kitchen was so nice also! We will be back to stay at this home again!!
We spent Christmas vacation in this home (2 weeks), as a family of 6 adults. We enjoyed the quiet area where the home is located, the waves crashing in the distance was lovely to fall asleep to in the master bedroom. The home is as advertised and photographed. However, we did feel that it could use some maintenance and a deep clean. The outdoor grill is in poor condition, and it was nearly out of propane when we arrived. Also, some of the furniture needs to be replaced or repaired. We enjoyed most of our meals at home, the kitchen was well stocked and equipped. I believe the beach mentioned in the ad is "Sea Lodge beach". It is a bit of a hike down, steep and slippery at times. You must be prepared to climb over boulders and tree stumps to enjoy. It is a quaint little beach that does not get much sun. There is plenty of lounge chairs around the pool, as well as beach chairs, floaties, flippers, water shoes and boogie boards in the garage. We enjoyed beaches all over the island, as well as the pool and hot tub in the yard. Hanalei Bay is very close by (10 minute drive), we would highly recommend hanging out there. The beach is lovely and the town has nice shops & places to eat. Unfortunately, everything else is minimum 40 minutes away. We enjoyed some hikes, kayaking and a Helicopter tour around the Kappa area (45 minutes). Na Pali Coast boat tours and Waimea canyon (1.5-2 hours). With that said, it was our decision to stay in Princeville, it is nothing against the vacation home; and we did enjoy the location. Princeville has an upscale island vibe, and we found that is was mostly friendly locals in the area. Thank you Samantha for hosting a relaxing family vacation.
Our stay at the Ocean Pool House was lovely. The view was stunning and relaxing. Our kids enjoyed going back and forth from the hot tub to the pool on those mornings we weren't ready to trek to the beach just yet. The house really had everything we needed, including beach chairs, pool floats, beach toys, and beach umbrellas. We were traveling with an infant so we did have to rent some baby gates and bring some baby proofing gear to make it safe and allow us to relax a bit more. :) The neighborhood was quiet and the house was clean. And we loved seeing the many albatross nesting throughout the neighborhood. And laundry was key! The caretaker - Samantha - was very responsive. This was our 2nd time staying in Princeville. We have stayed in Hanalei before but with the recent flooding I was a bit worried...so we were glad we stayed up in Princville which is convenient to many shops and restaurants. You won't be disappointed spending a week or two at the Ocean Pool House.
Very comfortable spacious house. Loved the view.
