Wonderful place to stay; you feel at home right away. Immaculate. Many many small touches to make you feel at home: condiments and spices, even toiletries. The special little touches: bird feeders in back yard make this a delightful and comfortable place to stay. Backyard is delightful. Helen does a great job.
I have stayed in the downstairs apartment of this duplex twice, most recently in March this year. It's hard to believe such a peaceful place can exist so close to Studio City and busy Laurel Canyon! Private parking is a few steps from the front door. You enter through a lockable gate to a fabulous green garden, and it's level access all the way to your front door. The bedroom is big -- huge closet! -- and there's an area to one side which is equipped for an office area if you need one. The living room is charming and has a sofabed. There are two bathrooms, both with good showers. Can't fault the linens and other details. The kitchen had had everything I needed, though I didn't try to cook anything too complicated - seemed to have plenty of equipment including the all-important electric kettle for those of us who make tea. But I value most that I look forward so much to going back there after a busy, intense LA day , opening the double doors to the garden and just unwinding. In the morning, the sun comes up over the garden, and you can do your morning email in sunlight to the sound of birdsong. I think I could live there permanently! There are no steps between the parking, garden or any area of this apartment, which is great if someone is cautious about mobility issues. Looking forward to returning next year, with my husband. (This is a copy of my trip advisor review done in April - thought it should be here too!)
We drove down for a 3 day birthday celebration. Family lives nearby and we had everyone over for dinner twice. We brought our old golden retriever rescue dog as well and the grandchildren loved throwing the ball to him outside. Despite the horrible heat (102), we were comfortable and everything went smoothly. Helen's rental homes are homey, attractively furnished and well outfitted with everything one could need (this is the third in which we have stayed) and the fruit basket is an extra treat. The living/dining area was roomy when all 8 of us were there and at night we two slept well thanks to the quiet neighborhood, the comfortable kind sized bed, and the central air-conditioning. Having off the street parking is a bonus as is the enclosed private yard. Everything feels very secure and safe as well - I wouldn't hesitate to come on my own. We highly recommend this rental and know that we will be looking forward to coming back.
This was our second stay in one of Helen's properties, and it was just as nice as expected. The duplex is private in a quiet neighborhood, yet close to many sites. Helen always thinks of everything, down to a ruler at the desk and dryer sheets for the laundry! The private garden and fountains add to the relaxing ambiance created with fresh flowers and tranquil decor.
This was a tremendous experience. The home was excellent - in a quiet neighborhood great for walking in the evening. Nice back yard for the family dog. Everything you may need was thought of - even index cards in the desk so we could keep track of apartments we were looking at for a family member! Snacks on the kitchen counter when we got there. Helen and her crew really do a great job to make you feel comfortable and at home - the whole point of the HomeAway experience! Highly recommend for your next visit to Southern California!
Well off the street behind a maintained lawn with lots of vines and shrubbery. But it’s a quiet street to begin with, and in a neighborhood lined with cozy cottages. Inside one is greeted by a King size bed full of pillows; floor to ceiling mirrors on one wall, and cozy nooks about the apartment. Lots of detail—little things that mean somebody cares enough to sew the fringe around the edges. The walls have pictures that reveal some forethought, e.g. between the cupboards over the kitchen sink is a seascape window painting that makes one almost smell the ocean. The TVs are widescreen and have pay channels, meaning the owner is going the extra mile. The kitchen counter has fruit and cookies and the fridge has condiments and little treats. The closed in and cute little courtyard that adjoins the apartment is private, pretty, and a huge bonus. If all rentals were like this, and for the price, motels would go out of business. Helen is a super efficient, prompt, and nice. What a bargain!
This place has everything you might need and more. Beautifully appointed with many amenities. An older home of character and charm with updated comfort and convenience. The private garden area is like an outdoor extension of the living room where you can relax in the shade. Ease of arrival and departure.
Cute well appointed duplex in a nice neighborhood!
We were staying several weeks to spend time with our grandson. The accommodations were excellent: clean, bright, and relaxing. The garden with fountain was wonderful and the area was great for an easy walk. Two groceries and a coffee shop within easy walking distance and 2 short blocks from Magnolia Blvd. Helen and Diana are wonderful and very easy to reach if needed. We will definitely stay here next year when we come for a long visit!
Thank you for such a lovely stay. Everything was perfect, we felt welcomed, comfortable and had all of our needs met before we even knew we had the need! What a beautiful garden to enjoy the outdoors.
