There is a 150’ dock, pier house, and floating dock. The waterfront view of a 2000 acre marsh, rivers, and creeks is spectacular. Beaufort is a historic southern town surrounded by sea islands. The intra-coastal waterway, the atlantic ocean and a myriad of rivers and creeks wrap the islands with sunrises and sunsets unlike any other. It was named “best small southern town” by southern living, “southern dream town” by garden & gun, “6 terrific towns on the water” by money magazine, and “american’s happiest town” by coastal living magazine Beaufort is an ideal vacation area, located just 12 miles from the ocean at hunting island, an hour from hilton head, savannah, and charleston. Its treasured coast includes the historic towns of port royal, beaufort and bluffton as well as hilton head island. It is also made up of numerous smaller islands rich with the history and heritage of both the revolutionary and civil wars. Visitors are provided a rich experience of history, culture, dining, annual events, cultural festivals, arts and outdoor recreation. Henry chambers waterfront park winds along the glistening beaufort river with a vista of marsh islands and waterways. Horse-drawn carriages transport through yesteryear in “the point”, an antebellum neighborhood where elegant mansions stand beneath moss-strewn oaks. Excellent restaurants and boutique one-of-a-kind shops line historic bay street. Whether its fresh seafood, southern-style cooking or gullah cuisine, there is a wide selection of local restaurants to choose from. For the past quarter of a century beaufort has served as the backdrop for many major motion pictures, including forrest gump, the big chill, the prince of tides, and the great santini. The carriage house is newly built, and features a spacious living area with hdtv, separate bedroom with queen sized bed, full kitchen with bar, bath, laundry, and a stunning vaulted ceiling with professional interior design appointments. The waterfront, pierhouse, and dock are all fully accessible to guests, and even a place to dock a boat, and park the trailer. The property is pet friendly, but smaller dogs only. The owners portuguese water dog, katie, would love to have a playmate. |

We stayed for over a week and loved every second in the carriage house. Dan even arranged a kayak for our use during our stay. There was nothing we lacked and the carriage house was gorgeous! The neighborhood is quiet and clean. We would highly recommend this location for a great get away Randy and Cathy
We could not have asked for a better place to spend on our vacation in Beaufort, SC The hosts Susan and Dan were friendly and welcoming. In response to some other reviews, having the Riedels there was a plus to the experience. They were not intrusive only asking if there was anything they could do to enhance our stay. The accommodations were beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. The location was great close to town yet far enough out to afford us privacy and close to the area beaches. We plan on returning next year.
We had a wonderful time. This was our second time here and we will be back.
Immaculately presented with everything we needed to explore, relax and enjoy our stay in Beaufort. A great base for touring but with everything you need close by without being intrusive. Dan and Susan were delightful hosts who could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Unreserved recommendation.
Great location near groceries, liquor store, gas stations, eating and drinking establishments; comfortable mile plus walk to beautiful Beaufort proper. Fully functional and well-equipped kitchen. Large, comfortable great room, replete with a decent collection of books, including a number of favorite son Conroy. We read a couple and left a brace of ones we brought. The desk included an appropriate array of menus, maps and "things to do". More than ample sheets and such, and towels to augment a great shower. Never a hot water shortage. Nearly always quiet, save the occasional "ear"itation of the infernal weed whackers. There were two nearly-new good bikes at our disposal. These were above and beyond. As are the surfeit of clotbes' hangers (not always the case) and adequate reading lights-in both bed and great rooms (also not universally present). A suggestion/recommendation:Beef up the larder with some basic cooking spices...beyond salt and sugar. And, oh, those serene evenings with a book and a "docktail" and convorting dolphins. BEYOND A LAGNIAPPE: that second greatest of all appliances ; an ice maker!!! Last, but certainly not least, was the presence of our gracious host, Dan, who always had time to chat and was ever-attentive to our requests.
Looking for a perfect venue in Beaufort to relax, watch sunsets, and soak in the essence of the Low Country? Here is your place! The carriage house exceeded our expectations, and both the quality of construction, and decorating were top notch. I do not believe you could do better to have such a perfect location, kind hosts, and quality house to have for your stay!
My wife and I get away a lot to the Beaufort area and have rented some really nice places in the area. But I have to say Dan's carriage house was the best thing we have experience in that area so far. Dan is quite the host. And the cocktails at the dock at sunset just will not leave my mind, VERY HIGHTLY RECCOMENDED
What a great place to celebrate our 29th anniversary. The home was perfectly decorated and clean as a whistle. The views from the dock were spectacular. We lacked nothing here and look forward to coming back again real soon. Mr. Dan was very accommodating and quite the gentleman.
We feel extremely fortunate that our first visit to the SC lowcountry included a week at the Carriage House. The photos, descriptions, and previous great reviews of this spectacular property and the beautiful, meticulously maintained, spacious and well-equipped living quarters accurately portray this special gem in Beaufort. This peaceful and lovely "home away" was matched only by owner Dan's warm hospitality and commitment to ensuring we had all we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. When our travels bring us back anywhere near the area, the Carriage House will definitely be our destination of choice!
We enjoyed our stay here, the carriage house was very clean and and nicely decorated. Everything that we needed was at our fingertips. Daniel was a great host, vert friendly, there when we needed him but never intrusive. Having access to the dock was a great plus! Watching the sunsets from the dock area was beautiful.
This a great property with a great location. Extremely well furnished with all one could ask for. The owner Dan met us and could not have been any nicer. A true gentleman with great hints and info for our stay. Can’t wait to return.
