We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend with several friends and our babies/toddlers. This was an ideal place, both in terms of location and the actual home. Plenty of space to spread out -- and the 3 bathrooms really helped with each of the families that were with us. We loved that we could make dinner and still be talking to those in the dining and living room areas. Bear Camp Pond is a treasure! Even though it was early in the season and a bit cold, we took advantage of the kayaking and swimming and enjoyed s'mores around the campfire near the beach at night. The small beach area is perfect for little ones. The location of the house was wonderful -- we enjoyed wonderful morning runs along nearby roads with rolling hills and a beautiful setting. Perfect location to launch from, if you're torn between lakes and mountains. Mosquitoes (or some other pesky bug, if I remember right) were the only drawback for the time we happened to be there...but that's nature and a small price to pay for an idyllic place. It was my first time renting a vacation home, and the owners were very responsive. I never had concerns leading up to our stay nor while we were at their home. I hope to be back for a longer stay next time and have already recommended it to others.
This camp is fully equipped and comfortable for two or eight guests. It has a private beach and dock for enjoying beautiful Bear Camp Pond swimming and sunbathing. We loved the western exposure giving us sun in the morning and afternoon. As w knew the area, we had no trouble finding the events and sights which we love visiting. Great location and perfect hosts to rent from!
Morning swim in Bear Camp Pond was the perfect energy boost to start the day! Sunny deck for breakfast and comfortable digs...thanks for a wonderful home to vacation with family.
Coming from a very busy area, this was just the place for decompressing! Absolutely the most beautiful place to relax with everything available to do it. Very comfortable home with a great location.
My family visited Bear Camp Pond for the first time this summer. We loved it. The adults loved the peace and quiet. We rarely left except to get groceries. The house was more than big enough, so we didn't feel crowded. The pond and surrounding area is beautiful. The kids in our group ranged from 3 to 12, and they all had a great time. My 3 year old loved fishing and going out with me in a kayak, my 9 year old enjoyed learning to sail the Sunfish, kayaking, and exploring the islands. All of the kids loved jumping and diving off of the swim raft! In fact, so did the adults! The water was a very comfortable temperature, and we all took turns playing like children. There is a TV but we never turned it on. The kids didn't even ask! There is no wifi and cell service is very limited (between us we had Sprint, Verizon and AT&T) but we were all able to get service on the deck. The house itself was in good shape. Everything worked- we had no problems. The boats and beach were great. We did not have to contact the owners with any problems, but I had an easy time communicating with them leading up to the rental. I would definitely recommend this property for a family vacation. My kids are already asking when we can go back!
I've stayed at this home for the past 5 years and have every intention of returning for many more. For those who like crowds and motor boats and jet skis, Winnapeusaukee is your scene. If you like loons, kayaks, and quiet, this is your spot. We go up with young children and it is perfect: the sandy beach, the boats, and the loft bunk-room make this an ideal location for a family vacation. The view from the deck and beach is stunning, the house is comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. For those who want to get hiking, the location in Sandwich is excellent. The high peaks on the southern edge of the White Mountain National Forest are an easy drive, as are the hikes on the north side of Squam in Holderness. The nearby town of Center Sandwich is quintessential small-town rural New England. I have traveled extensively in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine and I know that you'll find few villages as picturesque and charming as this. While I've only stayed in the summer, this would be an remarkable getaway during foliage season. For cross-country skiers (like me), the location is also perfect: numerous networks of backcountry trails are nearby and Jackson Ski Touring, while a bit of a haul, is an easy day trip for those seeking groomed runs or more reliable snow in an off-year. As for downhill skiing, Gunstock, Loon, Waterville, and Cannon are all within striking distance.
This has been our second year at Bearcamp Pond. We love it so much we booked it again for next year. It is the most beautiful place for a great vacation with all the amenities! It is in the best location for day trips, but it is so nice that it is hard to leave! Simply beautiful!
I recently returned from Bearcamp Pond with my husband and two small kids, and my sister's family including 1 two-year-old child. The seven of us had a vacation that we called 'a TEN'. The three kids played in the sand and watched the small fish in the water every day. The adults enjoyed paddles in the kayaks and our family enjoyed canoe rides out to the island in the middle of the pond. A couple of nights we made a campfire looking out over the most serene pond view under a blanket of stars. For our metro-NYC based family, we have been desperate for a vacation like this. The house is fantastic--the 'wings' give groups privacy when necessary. The house was clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was open for a big group. The limited wi-fi may not be for everyone, but personally we enjoyed nights of board games and afternoons reading on the deck or by the water. We took in the local farmers market in Center Sandwich, multiple trips to the Sandwich Creamery, as well as hikes and bike rides. In under an hour, we were at the gates of StoryLand for a day of amusement to relive my childhood with our little ones. The highlight may have been the mama black bear and her three cubs we saw in a field from the road--a safe and enjoyable distance for the whole family. I can't say enough about our stay here and the memories we captured. Many thanks for a desperately needed getaway.
Fabulous week at Bearcamp!
Our first four days were unseasonably cool with some rain, but this beautiful, personable cabin kept us happy with gorgeous sunsets, hiking right off the property, jigsaw puzzles, a visit to squam lake science center (a must see), and biking. The little beach was terrific for our 2 year old granddaughter and the sitting area nearby the water was perfect. Each morning the loon calls beckoned us to venture out on the water in kayaks and canoes - we even saw a beaver swimming towards its den and an eagle swoop down for a snack from the water. Private and peaceful, well equiped with easy access to town for supplies. We ended our stay with s'mores by the fire pit and as we left the next day visited Castle in the Clouds. We had a wonderful week of family fun.
Beautiful peaceful and comfortable place.
This was a great place to stay for our vacation. Private enough for us to enjoy our time with friends but close enough to everything so we could enjoy winter activities. The owners are great to deal with and made sure that I had all the information I needed to enjoy our stay. The pictures while beautiful of the house don't do it justice it is such a great place with great views and plenty of room for everyone that stayed. I will definitely rent from them again and would be excited to do it over the summer as the view of the water and mountains is amazing. Thank you again for a great stay.
This is a beautiful house on a beautiful pond near the White Mountains. We had an idyllic memorial day weekend hiking and messing around on the pond in the kayaks & canoes.
