Frequently asked questions:
1. How did Napa-Lake Stone Cottage get its name?? Glad you asked. Well...this wooded area was originally a part of Napa County. Later it was redistricted, by an act of Congress, into Lake County in the late 1800s. In honor of the cottage's bi-County heritage, we named her Napa-Lake.
2. How far are you from where I am?? We are about 2 hours from much of the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento and under an hour from Napa, Mendocino and Sonoma Counties. Less than a half hour from Clear Lake.

The cabin was cozy and warm -- our host had thoughtfully turned on the heat and bed warmers prior to our arrival. The fireplace worked well, and the bed was very comfortable. The cabin was clean and nicely furnished. It's a bit more remote than we realized, but it was interesting to explore the surrounding area. We enjoyed our stay.
Amazing place! Bigger than the photos make it look. Excellent host! Nature trail at the end of the road - great for dog walks.
Good sized cottage, don’t drive to it at night if possible. Roads not maintained. I thought the cleaning fee was quite high. Proximity to the other cottage on the property is closer than you’d think. Kitchen is stocked well, but bring spices/oil if you like to cook. Bill made things easy with his great communication! Nice host and we had a relaxing stay. Beautiful area!
Perfect getaway cottage from the Bay area craziness. Ideal for a couple with a young kid and a little dog. It's a cute cottage with basic amenities. Kitchen has all the utensils if you would need to Bbq and cook a meal. We stocked our supplies from the neighborhood store. William updates and keeps in touch via email, messenger and very quick to respond to queries. He has a good collection of DVD and cd's to keep you entertained or you can just relax reading a book. I would highly recommend for those that work crazy hrs and want to unwind and take a breather away from the crowd.
The Stone Cottage is really lovely -- spacious, nicely furnished, quiet and comfortable. It has a wonderful furnished deck, that is so lovely for taking advantage of the pleasant summer evenings. There is practically anything you could need in the cottage to make your stay complete. Bill is an awesome host, responding quickly to any question or request, and really going above and beyond to make my stay there pleasant. I loved that I could have my dog there, and there are beautiful nature trails for walking right up the road! I would highly recommend the Stone Cottage.
This place was cozy.. but super far from Calistoga! And hard to find up 2 very unpacked roads.
Great place, made for a good weekend
Lovely cottage. Wonderful host.
William's cottage was so cozy! We had fun hanging out on the porch, waking up to the sound of the local birds and cooking in the kitchen. While we were there, we had dinner at Biggi's, swam at Pine Grove and sampled some of the wineries that William provided recommendations on. All in all, it was a great trip to Cobb Mountain. Thank you!
William's cabin is very nice. It was MUCH bigger than we expected, with a very spacious living area, large open kitchen and large bedroom with a nice writing desk. The furniture in the living room was very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with anything we needed for cooking, and the deck was a lovely place to eat meals and hang out. The living room also had big windows overlooking the deck and the many trees outside. We especially liked using the wood-fire stove and William was kind enough to leave us plenty of firewood. William was also totally available for any and all of our questions. There is another, smaller, free-standing unit on the property close by, but because of the way they are constructed there is still plenty of privacy and the deck is also totally private. There is a coffee shop/bookstore and market about 5 minutes away which was very convenient. There are great windows all around, but because of the specific location on the mountain the living area didn't get a ton of light except in the late afternoon/early evening. Also, we didn't know it when we booked, but there was a tremendous fire in the area last year which devastated some of the surrounding terrain. The property seemed totally untouched, however several of the surrounding trees (especially behind the property) and some of the neighboring homes were destroyed by the fire. Lastly, the road getting up to the cabin was a little narrow and bumpy, especially on the street leading up to the cabin itself. It is totally manageable, and the gravel/unpaved parts are not very long, but I definitely wouldn't recommend trying to find it for the first time in the dark. Overall, if you are looking for a private and secluded, but easily accessible place in the area, this would be a good fit.
