A Great Home in a Resort-Like Setting This gorgeous 4-bedroom/3-bathroom, split-level home has a fabulous view of the Calaveras River and expansive oak-covered hills and is located in private, one-of-a-kind settings. It has a combination of hardwood floors (living room, dining, stairs and landing and tile (lower stairs and entryway) and plush carpet (in the four bedrooms) for you to enjoy. Three discrete redwood balconies circle the top level of the home furnishing nearly a 360-degree view of the surrounding country. The wrap-around deck about the swimming pool is also a good place to repose after a day’s activity and drink in the rustic grandeur that abound the home: the mountains, a plethora of birds (including a flock of wild turkeys), deer and other animals, and the lap of green and a carpet of flowers along the foothills (during the winter and spring seasons, golden grass during the summer), the drooping mature oaks, the free form in-ground Geremia pool, the 20-by-20-foot covered gazebo and fenced garden with sprinklers and drip irrigation. The sound of the river is hypnotic, lulling you to readily fall asleep on the deck or in the gazebo for an afternoon siesta. The gazebo, furnished in a living-room style with comfortable sofa and chairs, cushioned stools and coffee table is equipped with refrigerator, large table and several extra chairs that can be used for more sitting. It is located 115 miles North-East from San Francisco-Bay Area, about the same distance from Lake Tahoe, 75 miles from Sacramento and 25 miles from Stockton. Besides the local beauty one can enjoy, there is a lot to see and do in the greater Calaveras County. These range from the historic and picturesque gold rush towns to the great foothill vineyards and taste rooms, microbreweries and pubs to the eclectic art galleries, antique shops and gold rush museums and the Heavenly Valley snow ski resort which is about 1 hour away. Then there are the natural wonders: the hundreds of limestone and crystalline-filled caves and caverns–-many that you can explore on your own but there are also public ones (cave city, mercer and moaning caverns being examples), the abundance of lakes and reservoirs (some of which are listed below), Big Tree and Stanislaus Natural Forests and ski resorts (such as Bear Valley which is about an hour away). You can enjoy different activities at all seasons–-winter and summer sports, hike and bike, go gold-panning or horseback riding, fishing and boating as well as enjoy a round of golf on professional courses laid out along canyon ridges in the pines or among 200 year old oaks in rolling hills. Lakes, water views and fun: The Calaveras County in general and the Central Sierra Foothills in particular are blessed with a great number of beautiful lakes and reservoirs. Here are a few examples: HOGAN RESERVOIR--A 5-minute drive from the house covers 50 miles of shoreline and is surrounded by oaks, manzanita and chemise. It is open all year round and contains campgrounds, day-use and picnic areas as well as launch ramps for boats and a marina. LAKE CAMANCHE--a 15-minute drive from the house is located at the western side of the Sierra-Nevada foothills. It is a sprawling aqua mass, covering 53 miles of shoreline, and bounding 12 square miles of water at a depth of 150 feet. It is pleasantly calm and beautiful to behold with its backdrop of the rolling hills and the sky-touching mountains beyond. It is great for fishing and boating and is open all year-round with several picnic areas and campgrounds. LAKE MELONES--A 30-minute drive from the house, Lake Melones has more than 100 miles of shoreline and is hugged by oak-studded foothills and rugged river canyon cliffs and is the located between Senora and the historic, gold-mining town of Angels Camp. It is a great place for boating, fishing, and camping, if you do not have your own, you can rent patio or house boats for an afternoon excursion or week-long enjoyment. LAKE TULLOCH-–Located south-east of Valley Springs, at distance of about 20 miles from the house, Lake Tulloch contains great shoreline with many alcoves, stunning table mountain ranges with a spare population of mature oak trees. This lake is purported to offer one of the best water skiing lakes in California. As in all the others, the surrounding lake area offers picnic and camping grounds as well as fire pits. |

We had an amazing time! The house was very spacious and clean. We loved having our private pool overlooking the river. The gazebo was awesome for afternoon cookout by the pool. We highly recommend this property. JP the owner was very helpful and responded in a timely fashion!
This was an amazingly relaxing property for our family vacation of 8 adults. Beautiful setting and views of the Calaveras River. Short drive the heart of the Gold Country from Murphy's Jamestown, Angels Camp, Sutter Creek. We rented a pontoon on Lake Comanche for the day which was a blast, spent a day at the Sequoia National Park. And the best part "no TV" even though there is one the family opted for family game nights, cards, monopoly, Uno etc. Not to mention BBQing by the pool or just lounging around doing nothing., JP is amazing and answered all our questions before and during on week visit - its most likely going to be our go to property for short or long trips.
We loved our stay at JP's home in Valley Springs. It was extremely warm that weekend, and the beautiful pool and deck were just what we needed. The home was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 2 young children. Would love to come visit again!
Would love to come back during the summer and use the pool... Great BBQ area, great for families to come together and relax in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere where tv and internet isn't really a thing to do
The house and back yard pool was great. Enough space for me and my family, House was nice and organized. Very spacious with nice view and a quiet neighborhood. The only bad thing I got to say about this house is when the living room lights went out for an hour but came back on. Owner was very helpful in solving any problems and easy to get a hold of. Would strongly consider coming back.
Lovely location close the the river; nice pool and comfy rooms. Very nice deck and gazebo.
Four of us friends had a very enjoyable reunion here. We found the house comfortable and well stocked. It was nice that there were so many bedrooms. There is a balcony outside the kitchen with lovely views where we would have our breakfasts or dinner. We enjoyed hearing the river and watching the many birds. It was fun seeing the turkeys fly into trees at night to roost. There is a big outdoor area by the pool that is nice to sit around. The manager was particularly responsive and helpful as well as knew interesting places to visit. Hot during the days but nice and cool at night. We would definitely come back.
My girlfriends and I, along with our children, have stayed twice at this home, and we loved it each time. The house is spacious, and the bedrooms are on different floors (just a few steps up or down) from the main living area, which is perfect if you have little ones who need to nap during the day or go to bed early at night. The property is near other homes, but it feels like no one else is around, so it is very private. The pool and surrounding area is beautiful - you couldn't ask for a better view. We loved having the gazebo as well; we could get out of the sun for a bit while still enjoying the outdoors. This is a great home for families or girlfriends to rent if you want to just relax and be low key.
My husband and I were on a week-long get away from the Bay Area for some fun and relaxation. It only took a short two-hours to arrive in Valley Springs. We were so amazed at the beautiful view and sound of the Calaveras River below the property visible from the pool area. The pool itself was so lovely to just float on while watching woodpeckers in the tall trees growing next the property and the covey of quail roaming around, along with some deer. We hiked down to the river and found the rope swing. Unfortunately, the river was running fast and we weren't able to find an easy access into the river. Be sure to bring hiking shoes and long pants. One day we even spotted a couple of fly fishermen on the river. On the really hot days sitting in the large well-furnished gazebo was a real treat. There was even a mini-fridge that came in very handy. My husband cooked up some delicious steaks on the gas grill and at night we watched movies under the stars on my laptop. There is even a video store in town. The home is large and very well stock. I found the beds a little firm for me and preferred the large queen size air mattress. I was excited to find a NutriBullet in the kitchen and used it often to make smoothies. There is no internet but we were able to get cell service through our AT&T. The Dish TV for news was on the blink but we really didn't miss TV. We had our kindles loaded up with books. The washer and dryer in the garage came in handy and it was nice we could pull our car into the garage to keep it out of the hot sun. The owner provided many pamphlets of things to do in the area. When we weren't lounging in the pool, we golfed at the La Contenta Golf Course in Town, Saddle Creek Golf in Copperopolis, visited the Big Trees State Park in Arnold, and had an all-you-can-eat lobster buffet at Jackson Rancheria. Staying in and cooking was easy and the Mar-Val Grocery Store in town is pretty big and they make really good deli sandwiches. We also treated ourselves to Roundtable Pizza in town. We felt so relaxed and pampered. Can't wait to go back again.
