GUANAJUATO: the crown jewel of Spanish Colonial cities in the Mexico highlands! Settled in the 1550's, the city looks more like towns in southern Spain, Italy, or Portugal than most in Latin America. Exceptionally mild climate at 6600 ft above sea level; amazingly diverse and cosmopolitan arts. Annual Festival Cervantino runs through most of October and with performers and artists from across the world.
This beautifully renovated house is in the center of Guanajuato, within minutes' walk of the Mercado Hidalgo, Jardin de la Reforma, Plazuela de San Fernando, Alhondiga, cathedral, Jardin Union, Teatro Juarez, and Festival Cervantino venues - the heart of the best Colonial Highland town in Mexico - two blocks from the 'Callejon del Beso' (alley of the kiss) above Plaza de los Angeles, and on one of few streets accessible by car in the Zona Centro (but we discourage driving large vehicles - Suburbans or big SUVs - down our narrow one-way street). PARKING IS EXTREMELY LIMITED in the Centro Historico.

A reading room on second floor - with a huge sliding window wall and balcony facing the city center - has a loveseat that folds out into a large twin bed. Glass block skylights flood natural light into stairwell, second bedroom, hallway, and baths while affording privacy and security.
the entire roof of the house is made up of two terrazas with seating and tables for 6 on lower terrace and large pavilion with table and seating for 4 on upper terrace; breath-taking views of Zona Centro and most of the city and surrounding mountains.

The property has everything one needs to be here for any length of stay. Very good location to walk anywhere. Loved the rooftop views! Absolutely marvelous sight from the roof of the colors of the city and all of the landmarks.
Great house and location!
As first time visitors to beautiful Guanajuato, we were fortunate to find Casa San Cristobal for our week-long stay. We loved the classic Mexican furnishings and appreciated many thoughtful touches that made us feel welcome and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of essentials, making it easy to relax and settle in when we arrived. Like previous guests, we enjoyed sitting in the little “library” room on the second floor looking out at the colorful houses and historic buildings that characterize this historic city. The rooftop terrace provided a spectacular panoramic view - a perfect spot for enjoying a glass of wine before dinner. The location was very convenient - within 5 minutes walk of Plazuela de San Fernando with its many restaurants, and less than 10 minutes walk from Mercado Hildago. Shops of all sorts in any direction you choose, museums and major historic sites all within comfortable walking distance. I would be remiss not to mention that the house is located on a street with some traffic, and guests should be prepared to deal with a noisy urban soundscape that includes barking dogs and enthusiastic groups of singing revelers. The lovely master bedroom is street side, so as a light sleeper I found refuge in the interior upstairs bedroom next door, which was much quieter. Using a white noise app or earplugs might also be a solution. My guess is that similar challenges would be posed for most accommodations in Zono Centro - you sacrifice quiet for easy access to the heart of this vibrant city.
The location is ideal. Center of town is walking distance. However, beware of uphill climb on the way back home. This house is on a narrow street, thus the master bedroom and the ground floor bedroom are noisy. Fortunately, I brought earplugs with me and those gave me a good night's rest. The house is multi-level and so there are stairs. But the roof top view has a million dollar view. If there are any negatives about this rental, the view will make it worth it. Sandra, the manager of this rental is very hospitable. You can rely on her for information and might want to ask about breakfast so that you will have breakfast ready when you get up. Makes it a true vacation. Highly recommended.
This house was great for our two week family get together. It had every convience needed and was just a five minute walk to a main hub of activity. The only down side, was the sleeping arrangements for the seventh person. He ended up sleeping on the living room sofa since the day bed in the reading area was suited more for a child or younger person. The house is perfect for 6 adults. Yes, it was a little noisy (calleon revelries and cars) but we soon adapted and accepted that part as of the "flavor" of the city. Sandra was at the drop off area to greet us on arrival and both she and Ilda were responsive to our needs and questions. This was our 5th visit to the city and our fourth house. Best so far.
Beautifully furnished and detailed Mexican colonial home . Very clean with comfortable beds and linens. Sandra , the house manager, met us on the steps of the house when we arrived. She arranged for Antonia to cater our evening meals. What a treat ! Meals were delicious and varied. Only a few short blocks down to Historic Center. Would definitely return .
My friends and I were pleasantly suprised with the house. It was nicely appointed with Mexican folkart. Very comfortable. Well located.
It couldn’t be in a better spot, just far enough removed from all the noise. Besides it being a very nice house, I was impressed how well stocked it is with lots of pots and pans and everything else you need to cook. He even has a grater and a strainer. And the rooftop terrace (covered, by the way), is the show stealer. Sitting up there at any time is a treat. I would rent the place again,
A super home from home, everything just as the website describes. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to everyone. You are made to feel very welcome & all the facilities are top class. The balcony is the perfect touch! Thank you for making our stay a perfect one!
I have stayed in this beautiful house the past 4 years. The house is in a perfect location next to El Callejón Del Beso; it has an enchanting terrace where you can see the whole town. After a long day strolling the streets of Guanajuato, we would come and sit in the reading room and admire the views. The kitchen is fully equipped and we would make breakfast every morning before heading out. Both Jeff and the property manager have been always been very responsive. We will definitely continue coming back to this. We love Guanajuato and we live the house.
Good communication and service from the property manager. We could walk to almost all we wanted to see. Great rooftop for relaxing. Very clean. Had all amenities. Just the right size. Will certainly stay here again.
