I give the Heart of Elmwood a hearty thumbs up. Having to conduct business in an unfamiliar city and needing a place that is centrally located, close to a choice of restaurants, and concerns about parking, I had many questions. Fortunately for me, the owner of the rental Heart of Elmwood was quick to respond and provide the answers I needed. My stay was what I had hoped for, close to where I needed to be during the day, and walking distance to social activities in the evening. I even had my own parking spot. I look forward to a return visit.
We stayed two weeks in this great home over the holidays. We were very pleased with the home (everything is brand new and updated) and the location can't be beat. Walking distance for coffee in the morning and dining out in the evening. We were very comfortable here and the highest quality appliances and kitchen gear made our holiday meals great. I would re-book in a minute.
My wife and I rented Apartment C from Jan-May, 2016, while I visited at Berkeley. It was a delightful home away from home for us. The two-bedrooms were ideal for guests, and the sun porch made a perfect working office. We parked in the driveway. The backyard was a lovely place to eat lunch and to relax. The large, remarkably well-equipped kitchen was very easy to use. The living and dining areas, while compact, were perfectly adequate. A wide array of Cable TV options was readily available. After some early hiccups, the wifi hookup was fine. The landlord was accessible and very eager to make sure that everything worked well. The premises are carefully maintained. The location in Elmwood is ideal. Close enough to the Berkeley campus (1.2 miles) to walk, but with excellent bus service on the 51b, as well. Walking distance to the BART in nearby Rockridge. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
We stayed in Apt. C for 4 months during our sabbatical and we couldn't have chosen a better place! The apartment is extremely clean, well equipped, and furnished to a very high standard. It really has EVERYTHING you could eventually need during your stay (every possible kitchen appliance, cleaning supplies, even umbrellas and shopping bags,...). The hosts also provided everything we needed for our toddler (high chair, crib, etc.) and lots and lots of great toys for her to play with which made the transition so much easier for her. The office was better equipped than the ones we had at UC Berkeley. The outside space was lovely. The place is literally suitcase-ready (see all the other reviews for details on equipment and appliances). The owners responded to all our questions quickly and took care of necessary repairs within hours. It is obvious that they take their job very seriously and pay great attention to every little detail. The location is perfect, a lovely neighbourhood with great shops, restaurants, and cafes; one of the nicest and most walkable areas in Berkeley. Staying at this property and under the care of these hosts contributed greatly to making our semester abroad an outstanding experience.

The apartment is extremely clean, furnished with very comfortable beds, tastefully decorated, and the owners have provided everything you could need during your stay. The kitchen is a cook's dream and the sun porch office made a perfect working environment. The location is within walking distance of restaurants, groceries and shopping and they even provided shopping bags and grocery pull cart. The owners are very helpful and thoughtful, responding quickly to any questions we had. We can't wait for another opportunity to stay here again.
We spent the summer of 2017 in this beautiful house (Apt. C), located in one of Berkeley's best neigborhoods, only a few minutes from the university campus, and just a few steps away from the Post Office, the Public Library, a movie theater, shops, restaurants, and what not! The apartment itself is gorgeous! It is very clean, very well-maintained, and the owners privide their guests with more things than one could wish for. Bedsheets, towels, kitchen linen and so on... everything is brand new. Besides, the owners bought us a few kitchen utensils we asked for, left cleaning products of all kinds to last a decade, and provided my kids with plenty of drawing materials, games and toys they knew my kids would love--as they did! The garden is a beauty, with plenty of flowers, squirrels, even hummingbirds! Honestly, the house surpassed everything I could have wished for, so I am terribly grateful to its owners for making it just perfect for us--for making it "our home" during the summer of 2017.
