We loved this spot across from the lake and enjoyed bike riding on the quiet road. It's a perfect distance from everything you need (groceries, restaurants).
The view was beautiful and not far from town. We grilled every night and sat on the beach having bon fires. We brought up fans because we found out there was no air conditioning, but the temp was always 15-20 degrees cooler then in town since we were on the water. Wish there were more bath towels, probably only complaint
This was our first time staying in Door County, and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. There was plenty of room for all 12 of us (6 adults, 6 kids). Being able to walk across the lane right to the beach was PERFECT!! The kids loved playing in the water while the adults hung out by the fire pit. My dad who is a man of few words told me more than once "thank you for finding this place". That says A LOT! :)
My husband and i just spent a wonderful five days on Lake Michigan with two adult sons, my daughter-in-law and three year old granddaughter. Kay's cottage in Sturgeon Bay was exactly what we were looking for! A quiet lane separated our cottage from a lovely beach. Historic lighthouses were within walking distance. The four bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living room with stone fireplace, dining area with a beautiful view of the lake (and exquisite sunrises) made for an easy stay with plenty of room. We read on the screened in porch and took advantage of many of the activities and nature preserves nearby. My only suggestion would be for a larger bed in the one bedroom without bunk beds. Kay was extremely helpful in planning our trip. We would love to return for another stay!
Tidy and well stock cottage. The proximity to the lake was great. We would definitely go back.
Our family just returned from a 3 night stay... 10 of us ranging in age from 2 - 80. We were extremely happy with the cottage! It had everything we needed for our stay and the place was spotless. The views from the house to the lake are gorgeous and you are only steps to the water! We had our own private stretch of the beach and lots of privacy. The road between the cottage and beach had some traffic, but not enough to prevent us from walking or biking. The surprise WIFI was a plus too!
Arrived in door county for a 4 day getaway with 6 adults. Had a great time. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Beautiful view of the lake from the dining room, access to the lake was easy, the bathrooms were very nice, the kitchen was fully furnished and the bedrooms were comfortable. The outside of the cabin was quite welcoming as it was decorated with numerous plants and flowers. There was no air conditioning, however , with the lake breeze, it was not needed. Fans were provided nonetheless. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. I definitely recommend.
My husband is actually from Sturgeon Bay so we visit the area often. We decided to invite some friends back to enjoy the long Fourth of July weekend and we thought it would be a new, fun experience to rent a place vs stay with family. Kay’s cabin was one of the few that will allow a dog so that’s why we decided on it. When we arrived it was a warm day, and unfortunately not all the windows open in every room (only complaint). But we were happy to see the fans provided plus we brought another 4! Luckily the temps dropped that evening and throughout the weekend. Warm enough during the day, cool enough during the night. The cabin... The bedding is perfect. The full bed was so comfortable. The twin bunks were fine too. We actually brought two air mattress as well - a few kids slept in the living room which was cooler in the evenings. Towels and wash cloths were wonderful (12 total). Bring your own beach towels. Full kitchen - even a crockpot and s’more skewers. No dishwasher but wash cloths and soap provided. Garbage and recycling on site. Baggies and aluminum foil even provided! WiFi was perfect. Cellular isn’t the best - but that’s just the area. Games and DVDs to play and watch. 6 chairs to relax in outdoors and a picnic table for early am coffee and dinners in the eve! The beach... Perfect sand beach and water. Almost like the ocean without the salt. The water changed in temp daily but that’s Lake Michigan for you. There is a sand bar that the kids could walk out to. Waves were so fun but some mornings the water was glass. Fire pit was wonderful to have each night. You can purchase wood locally. The sunset is beyond amazing. We saw a rainbow of color on the horizon and the stars are stunning! Finally... Traci who cleans is so wonderful. She answered the questions we had a snapped a few photos the last day! She did such a great job! Only minor issues is the coffee maker didn’t keep up with our morning demands ?????, the windows that didn’t open (we were lucky to have cool evenings) and each morning someone tripped on the fire place (typically the dads). Overall we will be back and will definitely rent this place again! Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a trip to Sturgeon Bay!
