The Atomic Trailer Ranch is a family home refuge that is also a unique, mid-century time warp. We are still fighting the cold war on the Ranch, and you will see signs of the times everywhere you look. Spread about the property are stylish 50s trailers, funky automobiles, and a Sputnik sign, twinkling over Radioactive Rita, who is always alert in her guard shack.
This large vacation rental home is located just outside Joshua Tree National Park. The Ranch sits high on five private acres and is surrounded by boulder-strewn mountains and the pristine Mojave desert below. The view offers a breathtaking overlook of the park entrance and is among the quietest neighborhoods in Joshua Tree. Take an evening stroll before settling back under the stars to bask in the warm glow or your campfire. We offer comfortable accommodations for larger groups of up to 12, and you can pitch a tent if you choose to host more people.
You will find photo opportunities abound at the Ranch and we welcome your photography for personal purposes. You will probably want to post your photos on Instagram or Facebook or Twitter and when you do, we only ask that you tag us with #AtomicTrailerRanch. Help us tell others about the Atomic Trailer Ranch.

This house was very comfortable for us. It’s not modern, but that is the charm! It’s fun and a relaxing place to hang out. The outdoor space is the best with a huge patio equipped with outdoor furniture and spectacular views! It’s close to the park and a great cafe and pizza place. The swamp cooler does a good job of cooling the house down and beds were very comfortable. It was great for a family of 6 people.
One of a kind place. If you're looking for a perfect compliment to your Joshua Tree experience, this is it. We stayed with 2 other couples for Desert Daze. We all had comfortable rooms. Cary keeps it very clean and well-stocked from the kitchen to the bathrooms. Tons of hang out areas to rehash the festival the night before and plan out the next day. We loved the indoor/outdoor feel. Heard coyotes hunting every night and saw jackrabbits during the day. We had a music blogger and his photographer with us and just the pics of the property were out of this world. Plenty of trippy photoshoot and Instagraming opportunities. Cary was attentive throughout our stay and was always in close contact with any questions. I felt like I was borrowing a friend's house for the weekend. I am also a owner and respect the way he handled the rental, the pricing, and cleanliness of the property. Solid 5 stars
Fantastic location with beautiful views. Great for our family and friends get together. We will be back!
Came out to the Atomic Ranch for a second time to celebrate a friend's birthday and couldn't have asked for a greater place. TONS of space and places for people to sleep and a great view of the valley entering Joshua Tree National Park. Our favorite part was the patio area and the vintage trailers which added to the ambiance of the sunsets. So quiet and peaceful and super-close to the entrance of the park. Great space for a group of artists to escape.
Such an incredible and unique property! Very close to the park as well. Great communication - thanks again Carl!
This was a surprise trip for my husband on his 70th birthday. We had the best time here. The ranch is fun, unusual, beautiful and rustic at the same time. We spent most of our time on the back patio and front porch area, however, the house is very comfortable. I would love to have the decorative walls and floor in my own home. There is a lot of fun stuff to look at and the setting and view is perfect. Cary is friendly and a great host. Communication is easy and he answers texts immediately. My only problem was that I got the flu on the last day so packing up was not fun. We are definitely hoping to return to the Atomic Trailer Ranch.
Just spent Thanksgiving weekend at the ranch with my husband and 7 of our friends. The space is really beautiful. Everyone had a comfortable space to sleep. The restored camper as an extra room included. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals. (We cooked for all but one meal over 4 days) The views surrounding the property are unbelievable..and it's close to so much to do and see. The nightly fire pit surrounded by friends is the best. If you bring pets, we brought our 2 dogs, keep an eye on them if they like to wander like ours do. A lot of coyotes in the area...also lots of adorable desert rabbits..which dogs will be curious about both. Cary is a very attentive host and is super easy to get a hold of. Really perfect. I highly recommend this beautiful space.
We enjoyed our stay! The property was beautiful, the kitchen had the supplies we needed, and Cary was responsive when we had questions.
Our family really enjoyed our stay. The home was comfortable and spacious. All that was missing in this 50's-themed time warp was an underground bomb shelter! Lots of fun, with beautiful views of the desert terrain.
We were a group on 5 women celebration a big birthday and we had a wonderful time. The property is comfortable and super fun. We saw lots of wildlife and had fun exploring the area. Cary was a great host - very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place for social gatherings.
