Step back in time to this one-of-a-kind desert hideaway located on five private acres, with incredible views of the mountains and Joshua Tree National Park. The bungalow is situated in among desert boulders and Joshua trees. The western entrance of the National Park is about two minutes away, or you can just walk up the wash and you will be inside the park boundaries. Some say the location is magical. We tend to agree, but you'll need to decide for yourself.
The Bungalow features a Keurig single cup coffee brewer with an assortment of coffees and hot chocolate. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils and spices you'll need to cook your meals, indoor or out. You will be inspired by the beautiful 360-degree views while reconnecting with the essence of the natural world. The dawn skies and the evening sunsets are a photographer's delight. The days are typically sunny and the star-studded night skies are nothing less than magnificent. Astronomy buffs will find plentiful constellations and planets traveling across the evening skies.
The Bungalow is popular with our local wildlife, too. Throw out a little critter feed in the morning--also supplied--and you'll be visited by doves, quail, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits and more. You can walk the miles of desert trails or go rock climbing within walking distance of the Bungalow. After a long day of adventure, play a game of horseshoes or kick back on the patio with your favorite beverage. We've built an oasis in the desert with a funky vibe that is both peaceful and invigorating.

BEST time ever! Our first family getaway in many years. We parents had a relaxing time, grown up son enjoyed quiet time, teenagers had a blast, and pre-teen daughter loved it too. Even our family pet beagle had a nice time. Do as much or as little as you want. Place was fabulous, and the owners could not have been nicer. Totally recommend it to any family, or couple. Thanks Cary and Liz!!!
The ambient light of the stars, the moon, and the historic neon signs transforms this beautiful place in the desert into a magical setting. The rustic, cozy bungalow is as clean as a whistle, and is equipped with everything you need. The decor is retro without being cute or fussy. The vintage pink trailer and the bottle room add to the charm. But our favorite spot was the outside patio and grounds where we spent all of our time watching the moon rise, visited by friendly quail and rabbits. Cary Ezell was a gracious host who made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Can't recommend enough. We will be back again and again.
Loved the Rt 66/Ghost Town Fee.l Morning light in the Bottle House was lovely. Breakfast with the Quail was a delight. The owner was very nice to work with and right on top of any question we had.
Great place to stay! Minutes from Joshua Tree NP, town just a few minutes the other direction, and place itself was fantastic. It's a little off the beaten track so no crowds, but really amazing place with vintage everything and all of it works including the refrigerator, oh except for the rotary dial phone, didn't actually try it though. The grounds have vintage cars, billboards, and too many others to mention all in harmony with desert and house. Joshua trees right on the property, it is not out in middle of barren desert. The owner Cary was very helpful, readily answered any questions and is just a heck of a nice guy. Air conditioner and evap worked fine and kept place cool. Bottle house which is on the property is well worth checking out, but a little too warm at the time of year I was there to sleep in. I had a very nice, relaxing time and will be going back in the winter for a longer stay, was only there for a couple nights on this trip. Really looking forward to another little bit longer stay at Bungalow in the Boulders, there's a million things to see and do in the yard/house/bottle house, great climbing in Joshua Tree, and Bungalow is a fascinating and great place to stay for all the things mentioned.
Fabulous birthday weekend at the Bungalow in the Boulders. Cary was a perfect host -- out of sight but just within reach for anything that might be needed -- and full of interesting history if you care to ask. Slept like a baby in the Bottle House, amazing to wake up to the kaleidoscope of light and colors, cooled off in the soaking tub after bouldering in the park and played on the merry-go-round in the moonlight. Plenty for everyone to see and do. Great location, amazing collection. Definitely rustic, just the way I like it. We will be back again. Thanks so much!
We had a great time. A little like spending a night in the museum - or inside Fallout 4.
Perfect venue for family holiday of relaxing, hiking and being together. Love the sublime desert setting!
The Bungalow in the Boulders is a perfect place for people who want to have a real experience in Joshua Tree. The work that has been put into making this unique property is obviously a labor of love. Artists will feel inspired on this land. The bungalow is very casual but functional and comfortable. The Bottle House is just gorgeous! The trailer is a huge relic of days gone by, just amazing! The view of the mountains are great and it's fun exploring the wash! I loved putting out feed for all the critters that would come by and visit. If you're an artist, an outdoorsy person, and someone who appreciates 50's era cars, trailers, stoves, refrigerators, neon signs and more; this is the place for you! I'm filled with gratitude. I loved my visit here and I will definitely be coming back!
Loved getting my own slice of Joshua Tree in private.
We had such a nice time at Bungalow in the Boulders. The setting was beautiful, the house (and trailer and bottle house) were very comfortable, and my kids loved the playground. We would definitely come back again. Cary was responsive to all the questions I had even once we had arrived.
