My family and I came to the area to bury our father. I feel so blessed we found this home to rent. We all really loved it. It is right in the heart of Cumberland and was the central gathering place for us. The home was very charming and lovely. Felt more like staying in a "home" vs. a rental property. The owner was very easy and flexible to work with. Thanks again!
I actually live in Cumberland, but I rented the house so my family could have a space together when they came for my husbands funeral. I am so glad I did! The house is lovely, well stocked with everything you need. This home gave us a place to gather together and share memories. We had a very nice time there, and would highly recommend it. The owner was helpful and I was very pleased.
The house is clean and spacious, has a well equipped kitchen (including spices), expertly wall-papered "Victorian prints" bedrooms, deep claw tub and separate shower, small powder room off the kitchen, Bose CD player, TV, microwave, washer and dryer upstairs, well-stocked bookcases in the dining area with titles ranging from your 9th grade ancient history book to Tom Wolfe and beyond. Beautiful wood inlay floor in the dining room, which also has gorgeous windows that don't show in the photos. The property is still a work-in-progress with some exterior trim in need of paint and new dining chairs in order as well as some better reading lights in the front parlor that doubles as a TV room (working gas log fireplace was a nice addition here). The house is on an occasionally busy street but we were never bothered by traffic noise (and we stayed for a week). Great location with stores, excellent coffee shop and grocery a block or two away. We enjoyed our walks in the neighborhood and the view of Beaver Dam Lake from the picnic table outside. Our host was extremely helpful when it came to questions about operating the gas fire and offered to send in a relative if more assistance was required. If you like old style living you will love this place; it made a huge difference in the quality of our stay in Cumberland. Highly recommended.
This was my second stay at this lovely Victorian house. It is a relaxing place to stay. I enjoyed sitting around the house even more than going out and exploring the area. The wallpaper and the radiators in the house look like they might have belonged to era that the home was built in, and the radiators work very well to keep the rooms warm. My only complaint is that the largest of the bedrooms did not seem to have any heat in it while we were there. Otherwise, I have truly loved both of my stays here.
My daughters and grandchildren stayed at the property. Never have stayed somewhere before with abundant paper products. Towels were high quality, condiments and spices appreciated. More seating in living room would have been nice, but we made it work. Overall, 4 3/4 stars!
