Please read all of this to the end..... Just ask our friends, family, and renters and they will all tell you that Graywoods is the perfect house, with the perfect location (1 mile from Bath), with the perfect opportunities for you to enjoy a fabulous vacation, ANY TIME OF THE YEAR!!! The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. One of the bedrooms and bathrooms is on the ground floor which is perfect for those who might have difficulty navigating stairs. 3 of the 4 bedrooms upstairs have glorious water views. The main floor is open space with a dining room table that can easily seat 14 and two "living areas" one of which has a lovely wood burning fireplace. The screened in porch and deck serve as more living space with a grill, hot tub, and comfy porch furniture for relaxation and conversation. The grounds/lawn/garden are expansive and very guest friendly. A simple tree swing has been enjoyed for many years by children of all ages. Cornball is also a lively option. Of course within a 5 mile area, one finds tennis courts, golf courses, and a vibrant YMCA. A very short walk on a forest path takes you to our dock where you will find two paddle boards, two kayaks, and a canoe. The dock comes in during the winter but "the fleet" remains always accessible. 10 foot tides provide incredible opportunities to explore our bay. Finally, Graywoods is our family house. Our kitchen is fully equipped (Viking 6 burner stove, double wall ovens, commercial ice machine, warming drawer and all the utensils and machines you could possibly use) to help you to prepare delicious meals. Don't worry about bringing spices, condiments etc as you will find most of them waiting for you. Linens and towels are all monogrammed and beautiful. There is a treasure chest of games, toys for children of all ages, and books that will offer you opportunities to relax like you haven't been able to do for many years! We have lived in many places and our furniture and art all reflect the full lives we have been privileged to lead. There is still one thing that makes Graywoods special and different from almost any other rental - OUR EAGLES Just off our deck and with no need for binoculars is our eagle's nest and it is HUGE. This year we had two babies hatched on May 1 and taking their first flight on July 4th!! Although they have left their nest, parents and babes return daily for old times' sake. What a privilege this is..... If you have ANY questions, just send them on or call at 207-233-9120. We care about Graywoods and rent it not just for the $$$$ but really because it is so very special that we want to share it with you particularly as we have lived in it during all four of the seasons. It rocks! Hugh and Judy |

The home was exactly what we were looking for. Relaxing, cozy and fun. Very secluded yet close to a lot of amentities and restaurants. We went in early October and were able to enjoy the kayaks and hot tubs. We cooked most nights but went to dinner at Taste of Maine the last evening. We also did some hiking which was about 25 minutes away. The house was comfortable. Plenty of space and comfy beds. The hosts were amazing. Responsive and inviting. Absolutely loved it and would stay here again!!
We came from around the country to spend Thanksgiving in Woolwich. This loved home just got loved a whole lot more! Amazing kitchen for all the cooks in our family, lots of privacy in the house if ever needed but we loved congregating in the living room in front of the fire singing and dancing... and taking endless photos of each other, our gourmet meal creations and the every changing river views. Eagles made their appearance on schedule and we found a way to hike along the river. Judy was THE ABSOLUTE most delightful person to work with. Happy family we are for this dear 2018 holiday memory in Maine.
The owners have thought of everything to make sure your stay is great. I highly recommend this house.
The house was very large everything was perfect even the eagles can’t wait to come back next year thank you judy
From the moment you walk through the door you feel at home. The house says come in, sit down and enjoy your stay (you may never want to leave). The views are breathtaking. I think the eagles knew there were new visitors and came in to give us a warm welcome and wonderful show. So nice to be able to stand inside where it was warm and see them so clearly. Our family of 7 (parents and grown children - the grandchildren were elsewhere for this weekend) and Maltipoo had plenty of room to be together at the huge dining table playing some of the many games, cooking in the well stocked kitchen, watching the Pats game or sitting in front of the fireplace. Lots of wonderful memories were made. I could go on and on about what a wonderful place this is but you need to experience it for yourself to believe it (though I'd like to keep it all to myself!). It's wonderful that Judy and Hugh share this. I only talked to Judy and she was the most wonderful host. She was so responsive to questions and needs. You could tell she really wanted us to have a perfect time, and we did! Can't wait to come back!
What a wonderful spot! House is charming, and accommodating, and the eagles were a constant source of fascination! Judy was very responsive to our needs and caretaker super friendly and efficient. House was stocked with plenty of towels, dishware, and lots of pottery, making us seek out buying our own at Georgetown Pottery! Muddy march, snow melt, but with a fire going, good wine, eagles flying in and out and family, it was a perfect weekend!
This was one of the best appointed rental homes I have stayed in. Judy sent us an email after we had arrived and told us to let her know about any problems (of which we had none) we enjoyed the use of the hot tub, kayaks, canoe and the tree swing. The kitchen was wonderful to cook for our big family, and had everything you could imagine you might need including a keurig coffee maker and big pots for lobster. The real star of the show were the bald eagles, including one sweet little baby eaglet in the nest. We saw as many as 3 adult bald eagles in the area, and enjoyed watching the mama eagle feed her baby. The location was perfect, we walked across the bridge in to downtown Bath for dinner one night, really taking advantage of how close we were. Thank you Hugh & Judy for keeping such a lovely rental home for us to enjoy!
Everything about Greywoods was PERFECT! From the initial communication with the owners, to the check-in process and someone coming by to be sure everything was alright! The location is ideal, the views and setting is amazing, almost surreal the view you have overlooking the water and the wildlife. We watched Eagles all weekend, kayaked and paddleboarded, enjoyed time on the deck and in the hot tub. It was truely a magical experience and none of us wanted to leave. The home clean and well kept with great artwork and details - perfect for a multi-family/multi-generational group. Thank you so much! If we're back in Bath, or know anyone coming that way we will be back or recommend. Thank you for making your special place available!
I’ve been renting thru Vrbo for many years and I’ve never been disappointed, but this house however takes the cake!!! It was truly magnificent !!! The home is absolutely stunning and has something to offer for everyone. Judy and Hugh have provided for everything from canoes ,kayaks and a paddle board for the adventure types to a bathrobe hanging on each bedroom door for guests to use!. if you enjoy cooking like I do the kitchen is a chefs dream. I hosted a party of fourteen for a small family reunion that turned out fantastic. The home is also very child friendly . The views are breath taking we even saw a bald eagle that has a nest on the property. This home is so special I’m so glad I found it I know I will be staying here again.
All of our questions were answered promptly by these home owners. We had a great reunion of 6 friends here. We had our coffee watching beautiful sunrises over the river and eagles fly. This is a well stocked kitchen in which you could prepare a meal together. Wonderful porches and comfortable family area to enjoy a glass of wine together. There were a myriad of great restaurants and fun diners to explore and lobster everywhere. We visited lighthouses, took a ride into Bar Harbor to walk along a rocky coast, a shopping trip to LLBean and had an interesting day at the Bath Museum. This is a wonderful area with lots to do.
