House
This house has a screened-in porch, 57 ft. long, looking out over the marshes and a tidal creek with a view of Sapelo Island in the distance. Adjacent to the porch is a 16X18 ft. deck. Sit in our Hot Springs hot tub at night on that deck under a canopy of brilliant stars, undiminished by civilization's lights. There are five sets of french doors that open onto the porch on the southeast side. Open the front door and the french doors, and a gentle breeze blows through the whole house. Yet the whole house is quite private. Our house is adjacent, but away from your viewscape. No other neighbors are visible. The kitchen overlooks the great room, with a view of the marsh through three sets of French doors. The master bedroom suite is on one side of the house, with the other two bedrooms on the other side. Two bedrooms, with King size beds and high-thread-count linens have French doors that open up to the porch. Or sleep on the bed on the porch, if you like. An office and den and the dining room is on the northwest. They overlook an almost private lagoon, that you can fish in and is full of wildlife and exotic birds, which include wood storks, black-crowned night -herons, white ibis', great egrets and snowy egrets, little blue herons, tri-colored herons, roseate spoonbills, green herons, hooded mergansers, pileated woodpeckers and painted buntings. Dolphins will occasionally forage in the tidal creek right next to the house. The third bedroom, with a queen bed, views the lagoon and a corner of the marsh. We also have an office (with a futon) that faces the lagoon. If you just want to hang out, we have a flat screen HDTV, Blu Ray player, Netflix and Amazon Prime instant streaming, plus a good sound system. Two sit-on-top double kayaks and one canoe are on-site, making it easy to get on the tidal creek right from our property. We also have eight bikes, plus a couple of kids' bikes . If you bring your own, we recommend fat tire bikes if you plan on riding on any of the many sandy roads. However there are many good rides for skinny tire bikes. For motor boats, there is a public launch for a fee (back-in trailer for free) a few miles away. Take your own boat out to Sapelo Island (within sight of the house) and its beautiful beaches, or take the $5 ferry from it's launch a mile away. Drive 25, min. to the Harris Neck Wildlife Reserve and see the finest bird rookeries on the Georgia Coast and probably the whole southeast Atlantic Coast. Please note that we offer a 10% discount for returning guests. |

We enjoyed our stay very much. The views are amazing. Marshbreeze is a perfect name, thee breeze was just enough to keep it from being too warm. The screened porch was the best for enjoying our morning coffee, naps and dinner! The house is conveniently located to Sapelo Island (a must visit), Savannah and Jekyll Island. Thank you for being such great hosts!
Thank you for a wonderful weekend stay at Marshbreeze! The house was perfect and we had a great time.
Marshbreeze fit the bill for our recent trip to Darien for a family wedding at Hudson Creek Lodge. The natural beauty of the marsh was overwhelming and a joy to experience during our stay. The location is in close proximity to Hudson Creek Lodge, which simplified our frequent trips for wedding activities. Don and Susan's property accommodated all of our needs and even provided a pet friendly environment for our dogs, Sophie and Bo. Thanks for adding to a lovely family wedding memory!! The house is comfortable with all the necessities of home plus the added luxury of the incredible marsh view. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation from the hustle of everyday life...quiet and calm with family. Plugged or unplugged, this place is perfect for getting away from it all. We enjoyed the kayaks and the ability to put them in the water right outside at high tide. We traversed the tidal marsh and saw dolphins and lots of birds. The house has tons of creature comforts like a fully stocked kitchen... plenty of dishes, pots, accessories, and staples in the pantry to make cooking easy. There are games, books, satellite TV, blue ray player, wifi, hot tub, and more. No need to bring much from home. They even have bathroom supplies in case you forget something. And, the Carson family is right next door if you need anything. The screened porch is the bomb. With plenty of seating and a table to relax around with a meal or a game, you can sit outside in comfort and enjoy family and the view without being "bugged." Such wonderful accommodations are hard to find. We loved it! Come see what you are missing!
I fell in love with this part of coastal Georgia the first time I visited and have returned many times over the past several years. This cottage is my favorite place to stay--not only because of the extensively equipped kitchen, the Tempurpedic beds, the outdoor hot tub, and the full length screened back porch, but also because Don and Susan are such warm and responsive hosts. They live right next door, are leaders in the local arts community, and can point you in the right direction for anything you want to see or do while you are in the area. I'd be happy never to leave the property. There's a lovely two mile walk to Sea Breeze Island that starts right out the front door; the dock to Sapelo Island is about a mile in the other direction; there's a bike path to Darien that starts a little ways down Highway 99; and birders will find plenty to see through their binoculars, especially during winter migration. My favorite place remains the back porch, where I can watch the sun glinting on the water as the tide fills the marsh and recedes again. This place revives my soul.
Marsh Breeze is a "must" for nature lovers and those hunting a quiet place to relax. The large screened porch provides unlimited opportunities to enjoy the sights and sounds of the marsh. Anything you may need during your stay is available - from a well stocked kitchen to kayaks, bikes and a hot tub!
We loved our stay at Marshbreeze despite the unexpected heat wave in May! The home was stocked with everything you could need and more. Linens, blankets, towels, condiments, shampoo, Wifi, TV, sound system, etc... I have never stayed anywhere that I have had so much thought put into the comforts of the stay. The place felt like home when you entered and exceeded our expectations. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen provided every appliance you would need. The screened in porch was wonderful and we spent every night listening to the birds, frogs, and relaxing with nature. The kayaks were great with life jackets provided. You have to pay attention to the tides, but that is the marsh life! Bikes are ready and available with safe, quiet, roads to ride. The ferry is within visual distance to Sapelo Island. The place is remote, quiet, and serene, but withing 30 - 45 minutes from the hustle of Savannah, Jekyll, or St. Simon if you so desire. There are excellent restaurants in Darien and Brunswick. Owners live right across the way and were there to greet us and even helped my father carry some items in. They were there for introductions and questions, but provided privacy. It was nice to know they were close when we left, but answered questions before and after checking in. The ramp proved helpful for those that could not do the steps. The hot tub was awesome, despite the 100 degree temps! We had age 23-83 and all found something wonderful to remember from our trip! Thank you...we will be back.
We thouroughly enjoyed our stay here!! This house and it’s location was exactly what we all needed! The screened in porch served as best gathering spot, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the fireplace was perfect for the cold evening. The marshes and surroundings made for stunning backdrop to our weekend. The owners were amazing and helpful with any questions we had. They keep the home stocked with whatever you could need. The canoe, and bikes were so nice to have on hand! We made great memories, and certainly plan to return!!
Whether it was aerial time with Susan in her studio, sitting in the hot tub at night under a clear sky, or just enjoying ourselves- we had a great time!
My family and I had spent two amazing weeks at this beautiful home. It was everything that we had expected. Great kitchen, great living space, and an amazing view. Loved the breezes off the marsh land!! Every room felt like you were outside, but you were actually inside! Never had to leave the bed to see the sunrise. The owners are available if needed and are very helpful. It will be a trip well remembered.
