This home is located one block from Mexico's largest lake (Lake Chapala), four blocks from Ajijic's central plaza, and two blocks from the venerated Lake Chapala Society. It is within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants and cafes, galleries and boutiques. The house is recently remodeled and is fully furnished. The large great room has a 12 foot ceiling and is open on one side to a tropical garden. Additional rooms include a formal dining room, a large airy modern kitchen, and a master suite with balcony, sitting room, fireplace, walk-in closet and kitchenette. The views of the lake, mountains, and town from the open-air rooftop patios are magnificent, and the sunsets very colorful, especially during the summer rainy season. Ajijic is a bustling community populated by people from many parts of the world yet retaining it's Mexican ambience with cobbled streets, tropical vegetation, colorful buildings and friendly smiles. It is an eclectic pueblo which over the years has attracted many colorful personalities such as D. H. Lawrence, Ernest Hemingway, Timothy Leary, Joan Crawford, Elizabeth Taylor, Ken Kesey, and a variety of titled royals, among others. This house is located on a prime corner lot in a desirable neighborhood. It is tastefully furnished in a contemporary Mexican style, and is very suitable to entertaining, relaxing, writing or perhaps painting. A maid and gardener are included in the rent and a 24-hour medical clinic is just a short 3 blocks away. Some utilities and phone shall be pro-ratedly paid by renters. |

We had a short three month stay in this heavenly home and garden. The photos cannot convey the feeling of calm that you get when you walk into the house. The kitchen is completely adequate for the best of cooks or "chefs". The rooms are clean and bright. It is located right in the heart of everything. No need for a car.The owners and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the feel of Mexico. The beautiful art and quality furnishings greatly enhanced our enjoyment and the garden is a wonderful place to just hang out.
We spent a week at this beautiful home with a group of friends. The rooms were comfortable, we felt safe in Ajijic, and the restaurants were wonderful. There was so much to do: reading in the garden, walking in town and enjoying the colorful buildings, line dancing and playing bridge at the Cultural Center. We took a painting class from a local (very talented) artist, went to two art shows, toured Guadalajara, had friends in for a party and enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful sunsets from the roof. It was a perfect spot for a get-away.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay with family and friends. Comfortable, clean and conviently located in the town of Ajijic. Each bedroom had it's own bathroom. Can't wait to visit again.
This is a truly wonderful home and located in a prime area........near the best restaurants and a block from the lake. You don't even need a car as everything is nearby. The open air living room with a bubbling fountain and lush tropical gardens is a focal point. The house is fully and tastefully furnished in COMFORTABLE furniture (as opposed to the stiff and uncomfortable furniture in many Mexican homes). The kitchen is complete with all the appliances and tools one needs to prepare a great meal which you can serve in the spacious dining room. The layout of the house offers many unique sitting areas and the ability to retain privacy when desired. Wonderful views from the upper levels. This is a winner and we truly enjoyed our stay.
(Note that we stayed in April 2014. The date-picker tool for this form won't go back that far.) This house is dynamite. You'll catch yourself wondering if there's some creative way you can buy it and never leave. Really, you will. There's much to read about Ajijic already, so I won't bore you with more tips. Except one: Numero 4, around the corner on Donato Guerra. Very nice, fun restaurant and club. Expensive for Ajijic, but still a bargain if your dollars are Norte Americano. And it's 100 steps away.
There is a tour in Ajijic called "Behind the Walls" which allows visitors to see the magnificent homes that are hidden behind the high walls typical of the area. This home is not on the tour or else it may be booked year round with a waiting list! It is a wonderful place highlighted by the open living room facing the lush garden, a large kitchen and four bedrooms each with its own full bathroom and shower. Centrally located only two blocks from the Lake Chapala Society grounds and a five minute walk from the Malecon, it is ideally suited for those who enjoy walking to all parts of the village and beyond. The large collection of artwork complements the comfortable furniture and several terraces on the upper levels are ideal for activities ranging from breakfast to star gazing. All in all, this is a great place to use as a home base while visiting the Lake Chapala area and we have already booked for both January and February in 2016!
My 5 girlfriends and I rented this gorgeous home for a short stay in August and found it to be incredibly comfortable as well as beautifully and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was furnished with everything one could need, and the numerous terraces, balconies, and garden sections were delightful. The location is superb for exploring the village of Ajijic, and nighttimes were much quieter than expected. We would highly recommend this home without reservation, and we hope to rent it ourselves in the future.
So, five of us women of a certain age descended upon Ajijic to visit a friend who lives there. When we walked into the house, every room beckoned us. For me, an avid gardener, the outside courtyard was entrancing. There were flowers everywhere, and birds filled the trees. The house itself was also gorgeous - a huge living room, large, well-equipped kitchen, and bedrooms galore. Best of all, there were bathrooms scattered throughout the house. We had three upper terraces to choose from, including one with a lovely view of the cathedral and the mountains in the distance. The house is located right in the center of town, and yet it was so quiet at night. We were right down the street from a great bar and wonderful restaurant. And we could walk to the lake. I would return to this house again in a heartbeat. It was clean, well-appointed, and most of all, gave us the space to be together with plenty of space, too. We had a blast.
This is not one of those places that looks amazing on a website and then disappoints. If anything, it is more spectacular than the photos. It is spacious, well-kept and well-appointed. It is also conveniently located, as you can walk out the door and go a couple of blocks down to the lake or go shopping or to a restaurant (or bar!). Sometimes I honestly didn't want to leave the house; I just wanted to sit in the living area and enjoy the courtyard and fountain. There was a group of six and we all had privacy as well as ample room to be together. This house made my visit to Ajijic a wonderful experience.
the property was everything the previous comments said it was. And even more so. Such a huge house with so much room. We loved it.
Everything was fine. Initially, the wifi did not work. So, it took 4 or 5 days before a technician came out and installed an signal extender which solved connection problems. The other issue revolve around only having spanish language stations on the tv. It may have been my mistake but I thought the property had U.S or Canadian cable. All in all, I survived. The housekeeper and gardener were fine and friendly. I would recommend this property to others. It is conveniently located.
