Do you need to get out of town and get-away from it all (job, phones, noise, traffic, people), but camping just isn't your thing? Our 600 square foot casita is just an hour southwest of Roswell, New Mexico. We can promise you little to no traffic (maybe 4 or 5 cars a day…if you're lucky), no cell phone service (unless you walk up to the top of the hill or have wifi calling on your phone), wifi available nearby. There is an abundance of wide open spaces to hike or bicycle (horseback riding is available at $40.00 an hour/per person with a 2 hour minimum, by appointment only with Kim), loads of peace and quiet, and an occasional visit from the local wild life. Feast your eyes on the cattle and sheep grazing on the distant hillsides and savor the beautiful New Mexico skies that spread like a canopy over it all. The nights are spectacular as a blanket of stars unfolds, unhindered by intruding lights. The warm and welcoming casita has a fully equipped kitchen plus a barbecue grill (charcoal or gas). Feeling adventurous? There's a campfire cooking area where you can grill a cowboy sized steak or toast a marshmallow! Just don't forget your food…it's a long drive to the grocery store (steaks or other available cuts of 'Chesser natural' beef or lamb are available for purchase)! After a long day, the comfy queen-sized bed beckons and promises a restful nights sleep. The loft area has two twin beds, and the sofa turns into a queen sized bed to accommodate more guests. The casita has a full bath and a washer and dryer to meet your needs. Relax on the covered porch and enjoy the outdoor picnic table. Chesser Ranch's Casita Retreat is the perfect couples or family retreat. Give us a call and reserve the casita for some well deserved time away! |

Excellent choice as a unique and comfortable place to stay while in Roswell area or passing through. The ranch is wonderfully remote, quiet and lovely. The casita is delightful. It's country cozy/western design is tasteful and fully functional. Patricia and Kim are lovely and helpful hosts. My son and I had a wonderful two night stay there.
I was looking at our potential Texas road trip map and saw how close Roswell NM was to our route. I was so glad that I added this Casita to our trip as it is just beautiful! Be prepared for the drive though. We'd got this marked on the sat nav and had an 18 mile drive down country roads (tracks) and came to our destination to see nothing but a gate. We went to the previous farm to see if we'd gone wrong, we hadn't, the farm was just another mile or so. We arrived to an empty farm, tried the Casita door which was open and found the welcome letter. Kim arrived with the dogs and introduced himself. The Bunk House was empty so we were able to nip between the two to play Checkers or pool which was a real bonus. The Casita is very cool, very private and a wonderful place to sleep. We had camp fires both nights watching shooting stars and distant thunder storms. On the day we left we had arranged for my wife to have a horse ride out with Kim which I think she is still smiling about today. She loved the ride and had a session in the arena with Tye which was such an experience for her. The dogs are a pleasure to have around, Biscuit spent most of the time in the porch unless it was time to work, Gravy would hang about and we also got visited by the cat a few times. Watching the horses in the paddocks and having the time ro relax and just chill was perfect. The TV didn't work but to be honest I was glad, this gave us time to enjoy family time together without a screen to distract us. The Casita is well laid out, has a kitchen with everything you need and was very clean. Just make sure you have supplies before arriving though.
The Chesser Ranch is certainly off the beaten path but holds a rustic elegance that's inviting, cozy and comfortable. We get to watch horses coming though the property each morning that was beautiful to behold. We will be bringing our kids next time we stay. Participating in cattlework on horseback and in the corral was a first for us. Looking forward to coming back! Thank you Burnt Well!
We loved our time at the Casita! The stars at night were big and bright and the Milky Way was a sight to behold! The rising moon was aweinspiring. The whole area was a photographers delight. We enjoyed seeing the jackrabbits, deer, coyote, fox, and turtles as we journeyed the long country roads. The sunset over the mountains as we drove into the place were also amazing. The Casita was perfect for our family of four and our kids (7 and 9) loved the upstairs loft. The Chesser family were beyond hospitable and the place/experience was so welcoming. The history of the ranch was also interesting. Overall, we loved our time and experiences that we will cherish for a lifetime. Thanks!
The Casita was very neat and clean and just as pictured in the advertising. Patricia and Kim Chesser were very nice and available if we needed anything. Otherwise, they left us alone. It was a good opportunity to catch up on some reading and relax. We enjoyed the facilities and the sights and sound of the ranch.
We were fortunate to spend a night at this beautiful casita on our way back to Texas from Colorado. Our entire family marveled at the starry sky and had a lovely time exploring the surroundings. We were grateful for the time spent there with our children and for the hospitality Patricia extended during our stay. We hope to return on our next trip through New Mexico.
Very comfortable. Beautiful location. Very peaceful.
I was overwhelmed with the city, the masses, traffic, the concrete jungle, and being plugged in. If you want to get away from it all, stay at the Chessers' working ranch. We enjoyed our quiet, restful and peaceful stay with a 360 degree view of the horizon. Mr. Kim Chesser, the owner himself, took us horse back riding. We watched birds, hiked, read, and pet ranch horses and chose not to visit Lincoln and Rosewell for day trips. Thank you again.
Easy
It was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed our stay at your Ranch. The horses were beautiful to watch being herded in by sassy. I loved watching the sheep listening to sheep and watching them play. We enjoyed star gazing, bird watching, and looking for other wild life. Thank you for the making our summer vacation to Roswell, NM an amazing time. We will stay here again.
This was a wonderful place just outside of Roswell, but it still felt like a place outside of time. My wife and I enjoyed the isolation and beauty of the countryside during our short stay. Would definitely stay here again.
