About the Property
Fantastic Views, beautiful deep water in a quiet cove with your own dock. Avoid the noise and crowds of condos with this two-story house; a wonderful lake retreat in the woods. Enjoy beautiful clean lake water, great views of the main body of the lake (Marker C-1) and Smith Mountain. Let the kids go swimming, sailing, skiing, kayaking, canoeing or fishing for champion striped bass, all while mom and dad enjoy a break on the 2 screened-in porches or the covered dock with boat slip and floating dock. There is a natural beach combined with a floating dock that will keep the kids entertained while mom and dad enjoy the fantastic views and wildlife from the covered dock and screened porches. For the fisherman, the citation Stripers await your arrival. Mitchell’s Marina is within walking distance for launching boats, food, and tackle. A deep water boat slip adjoins the floating dock. The house is 1500 square feet. The renovated upstairs contains two bedrooms, a full kitchen, family room, and screened deck. The downstairs has a full bath, extra bedroom, game room/den, along with a washer and dryer and a second screened porch. ITEMS NEEDED AND PLACES TO VISIT: All you need for a complete vacation is your bed linens, towels (bath and lake), soaps, paper products, trash bags, food and toiletries. Rental periods are weekly from Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm until Saturday morning at 10:00 am. A $400.00 fully refundable security deposit is required. Nearby: The National D-Day memorial is 30 minutes down the road in Bedford VA. If you want some variety you can drive, motorcycle or hike the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains or the Peaks of Otter which are just 45 minutes away. 'Explore Park' near Roanoke and Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest residence near Lynchburg are less than an hour away. NASCAR's Martinsville race, held twice a year, is also a one and half hour drive. Booker T. Washington's and Jubal Early's childhood homes are a short drive from the lake. Charlottesville (Monticello and University of VA) and Blacksburg, VA (Home of Virginia Tech) are just two hours away. Ferrum College is one hour |

Location very close the marina. Cozy home, very clean. Nice quite cove. Great little place!
We had a fabulous time. The home was compact but welcoming with plenty of room to spread out when desired. We never left the property. The kitchen had everything we needed and we are in each night trying new recipes. Dinners and games on the shady screened in back porch overlooking the lake made it a great family experience. We rented kayaks from Mitchell’s Marina and swam in the lake. We were totally blessed by our stay. Alice was fabulous. Always available with timely responses.
We enjoyed staying there and would consider renting there again.
This lake house meet all of our expectations and needs. Charming and functional. We enjoyed the house, screened in porches, dock and cove. A good time was had by all. Will be a repeat renter!
Great location less than a half mile to Mitchell's Point Marina where we launched our boat and ate numerous meals. So convenient to dock boat at the house. Very clean house. Lots of room. Private sleeping for 3 couples. Great kitchen with all nice appliances needed, even blender and toaster. Basement is nice private area for one couple with bedroom, bath/shower, tv room, drink frig and microwave. Nice view of lake from both screened in porches. GREAT view of lake from dock where we spent most of our time, even after dark. Covered dock for relaxing and uncovered dock for swimming/sunning. Well lit shallow steps to dock were easy to maneuver, even after dark. Owner VERY responsive and helpful with our first time questions. Looking forward to our next stay!
The house had great views of the lake from its two screened in porches. Nice quiet cove that was perfect for kids to swim. We would definitely go back to this property.
Perfectly listed rental. We had no issues at all. Only wished there was a firepit to make s’mores w kids. Lovely dock with canoe in private cove. Great separate downstairs space for older children. Excellent communication with owner when I had questions. Very pleased!
We had a wonderful weekend at this property. The porches provide a perfect spot to wake up with coffee in the morning. The dock with a little beach beside it was a great way to spend a day in the sun. Alice was very accommodating. She made sure we had everything we needed and made herself available should anything have come up. A truly great experience and lovely property.
House was clean and had all the amenities you could need. Great location. While the house is small, there was plenty of room for 6 adults. Never felt cramped at all. Very comfortable. Boat dock was awesome and we enjoyed swimming off the dock all day! Alice kept us informed and was very responsive to any questions we had. We will be back!
