Secluded sandy beach located in a quiet area about a half mile from the entrance to the Cheboygan River. 50ft trees surround this fully equipped home with oak floors and soft light carpeting. We are approximately 500 yards from the Little Traverse Conservancy Nature Preserve. Don't be surprised to see deer, fox and a myriad variety of water fowl. Watch the 1000ft international freighters sail by from the many rooms, large deck, or fire pit on the beach. This home was built and furnished for comfort and serenity. It is perfect for taking out the kayaks to cruise the Cheboygan River to the left or head for the State Park on the right. There are several restaurants on the river or within walking distance that cater to boaters. The bed set up is 3 queen beds in 3 separate rooms, one bedroom with two twins, one bedroom with one twin, and a den with a fold out double. Two bikes, one with a large basket for bringing home your products from shopping the strip mall that is about a mile away. We are members of Duncan Bay Boat Club located within walking distance. You may use our slip for your boat ($150), as well as all of the facilities at the club, included use of the swimming pool. We just need to know ahead of time if you would like to use the facility. Peace - Owner Comment: : My brother calls our property, a little 'peace' of paradise. The silence all around is broken by the songs of birds, hearing swans flying by, cricket calls in the evenings, and the sound of waves lapping the beach. Sunsets over the lake are spectacular and many enjoy it around the large fire pit on the beach. Thank you for considering our home for your vacation. We pray for each of our renters to have a re-creating, wonderful, and joy filled time while staying on our property. Sincerely, Valerie Porter |
It is very quiet and peaceful here. Deer, fox, Bald Eagles, Blue Herons are some of the wild life that you might see. We are steps away from a Nature Preserve with beautiful trails and sights.
Kayaking is also very beautiful here in the bay with a quick paddle to the Cheboygan River.
In addition to the new hot tub, a large children's play ground equipment area is being installed this spring.

We just spent 2 weeks in this wonderful family home on Lake Huron. There were 8 adults and 3 childern. We were all comfortable and had enough space while in doors, which wasn’t often. Much of our time was spent on the beach, swimming, building sand castles, playing on floats and kayaking, along with many bonfires! When were not out exploring the region, the spacious Deck was a great hang out place too! Everyone enjoyed the views of the bridge, sun sets and the 2 bald eagles that came by every evening. Star gazing was spectacular too!!! Valerie was a wonderful, attentive hostess and made sure all of our need were met quickly. Tim, our on-site contect, was very helpful and also gave us information on current, local events. The Salmon Tourniment Festival was fun because we could see all the award winning fish caught that day and my son won one of big prizes in the raffle! We used the boat slip at the Boat Club and used the Swimming pool too! What an added bonus! BTW: The guys caught their trout limit within a couple of hours using the Diabolical Fishing Charter company....They had the time of lives! We give them the highest recommendations if you like that sort of sport. Thanks Valerie and Tim for making this a fantastic and memorable vacation. The Ballman Family
This place is amazing! There was 6 adults and 2 children, there was room for all of us.The house was Huge! We could spend time together or go off to another part of the house or outside. The water was awesome, not deep at all and we all spent time on the beach or in the water. The kayaks were fun, my 11 year old granddaughter was able to take one out by herself, her cousin did too, first time kayaker. Nice area on beach for campfire. It was so peaceful and quiet. We had a wonderful time at your home, we didn't want to leave. We are hoping to come back next year on our annual family vacation.????? Thank you so much. Celia F and family.
We all had a delightful time at this home. . . our 4th visit over 28 years! It was spotless, positioned perfectly, right on Lake Huron, and had ample room for grandparents, parents and kids to find their own space. I enjoyed being a grandmom bringing our daughter back for a visit with her OWN kids. MY mom had rented the property in the 90's for HER kids and grandkids to enjoy. Truly, history repeated itself and more happy memories were made.
Wonderful views of Mackinac Bridge and Island, as well as Bois Blanc Island. Water was crystal clear with nice sand beach. Kids and adults enjoyed it. Close to dining and shopping. Took our first trip to Pictured Rocks in UP and it was amazingly beautiful by boat tour. We are grateful for the time spent with family.
The house was great for a three-generation family vacation. Five bedrooms was perfect for our family. Having a separate family room, living room, dining room and deck was great for everyone to spread out, and room for everyone to sit at dining table to eat or play games. Room for everyone to spend time together, and space to be alone when needed. Kitchen could use a better frying pan, but otherwise very well stocked with nice appliances. Ice maker, dishwasher and washer and dryer a bonus. Huge yard, great for kids and to play corn hole and bocce ball. Shallow enough water at the beach for young kids to play. Saw the eagle go by almost every day, freighters passing by and lots of sail boats. A short drive to Mackinaw City for a day trip and to Petosky to hunt for Petosky stones. One bedroom needed extra cleaning, but after informing caretaker of this, it was taken care of within 2 hours. Tim had great tips for things to do and see in the area. Plenty of parking and nice secluded area. Overall, family had a wonderful vacation. Will certainly come back again. Thanks Valerie for sharing your home with us.
This was our second time at this property, the beach is ideal for small and large kids alike. Having three full baths is a major plus and everyone really enjoyed their stay. There was plenty to do not only in Cheybogan but many other places within 30 minutes or so, we rent a cottage every summer and this was our first time going to same location, really appreciate this location.
I have 6 sisters that live all over the us and the last few years we have found time to spend a week together and it was an awesome week at the Porters house. So close to a lot of things to do in the area and the sunsets over the Mackinaw Bridge every night was priceless.
A lovely home, beautiful view and a peaceful spot on the beach. It was a perfect vacation!
Our family greatly enjoyed our summer getaway. Your home was very comfortable for our large family. The kitchen and linen closet was especially well stocked. Everyone was well rested in their sleeping arrangements. Our grandchildren especially enjoyed the large yard, the coolness of Lake Huron, building in the sand, and making s'mores at the fire pit. It was nice to be semi-secluded, but also within very convenient distance to church, stores, and gas stations. Tourist attractions were also nearby. The view was beautiful at all times of the day and night. Though the weather was a bit cool and rainy for a few days, we greatly enjoyed ourselves and will always remember our summer getaway.
Great house for 8 people. Plenty of room to spread out. The fireplace was fabulous. The beach and view from the deck and house are super. The house is very pleasantly decorated and well equipped. The few issues we had were addressed promptly. I highly recommend this property for groups and families
