About the Property
Due to the setting it's best: -for only 1 or 2 people-sorry NOT for visitors, unless discussed -corporate stay in the Lexington area . -Sorry, but there is NO PLACE to DOCK a BOAT or park a trailer. - If you are renting a boat for a day, then check with the owners about a temporary dock .-snowbirds in transit or scoping the area This is a perfect place for a quiet get-a-away for 2 or wonderful alternative to a required hotel stay. The cottage was built totally by hand, by the owner, with trees cut from the property. It is designed for adults and there is nowhere for kids to play. -No fire pit or place to burn TWO KAYAKS are available to enjoy our large cove or to explore Shull Island. Accommodations: Den and kitchen with island on one floor. Downstairs 600 sq. ft. with a queen bed and sitting area. Sleeps 2- one queen bed downstairs. Three large windows overlooking the lake. We have all new appliances, including granite counter tops and 2 HD TVs with Dish Satellite. There is a deck off the lower level for enjoying the lake view and for kayak or swimming access. Off Season, 2 nights available if less than a month away from arrival. Keywords: Guest House, Lakefront, Peaceful If you stay a week and could leave the lake, it's two hours from Charleston, SC. Downtown Columbia is 35/40 minutes away and the zoo (30 minutes) State Museum and children's museum are well worth the visit. Restaurants and many shopping choices are in Lexington which is an 18 minute drive. Many restaurants and grocery stores are an easy 10/15 minute drive from the guest house. Most renters prefer to shop prior to arrival. There is a deck off the lower level for enjoying the lake view and for kayak or swimming access. Off Season, 2 nights available if less than a month away from arrival. |

If last minute 1 night ok. Standard season, 2 nights available only if less than 2 weeks away. Any time last minute, 2 nights available. Peak season, prefer to not rent only 3 days, if more than 2 weeks away. Thanksgiving-4 night minimum prior to 1 month in advance Masters week minimum 5 nights April 2-April 9- Please write a check, or add to paypal $200.00, for security deposit. IF using paypal, the renter pays the fee. The check will be shredded or returned if you prefer. |

The name of this property is so true, Tranquility; the property was quiet, yet had life to it, beautiful and relaxing to be in, reflective and blending into the land and lake. This is a place to get away and refresh your self, enjoy one’s self, and to have a little fun to boot. You are not going to be surprised when you arrive as the descriptions and pictures are accurate, although you will find that reality is better than the photos. The amenities and furnishings of the cottage are very nice and more than most will expect, and the decorations are very pleasing. We found ourselves enjoying the photographs and art more often than not. The access to things to do is endless and depends on what your interests are; the cottage has kayaks and an easy way getting them in and out of the lake, providing not only exercise, if that is what you want, but also a very enjoyable way to see the lake. At least the amount you want to paddle around. There are also many places to rent boats of many types nearby, which we did and had an extremely fun and relaxing day on the lake. The owners were an absolute joy to interact with and they truly think of you and your privacy. They are attentive to any issues you bring to their attention (we noticed a couple live insects, mentioned the bugs to them and the next day they had an exterminator come out; first making sure we didn’t mind.) They are extremely thoughtful people. This is a place you will find yourself visiting more than once. This is a beautiful couples retreat. Dan & Pat

Our 2nd stay at the property and still in love with it! We're really starting to enjoy the Gilbert/Lexington area. We look forward to yet another amazing stay here in the future. Always clean, cozy and homely. I love being steps away from the water, whether we're kayaking or floating around for hours. Hosts are always easy to reach/communicate with if there's an issue but there hasn't been! We love it here and you will too.
I had checked out for weeks for our 40th Anniversary and with 68 (and counting) 5 star reviews, 2 kayaks and STEPS from the water we chose Tranquility!!! It was EVERYTHING they promised and more!!!! We are used to Lake of the Ozarks chaos and Lake Murray is a slice of Heaven! The cottage is lovely, has everything you need +more. Great places to eat around Lexington and we rented a pontoon for a day (Acapulco Marina) The owners live next door but you would never know it! We were lucky enough to catch them at home and had some nice visits :) The Lake is beautiful and very quiet. It was perfect!!!
The cottage is exactly as described, the setting is wonderfully private and peaceful, the hosts were communicative and easy to access. We enjoyed the lake so much -- swam and kayaked and spent hours sitting by the water. The cottage is perfect for two people and was just what we were looking for.

The hospitality, the correspondence from the hosts, the proximity to civilization yet the seclusion from it all....just magnificent. It rained for half of our stay but that couldn’t dampen the experience we had! Tranquility had everything we needed to feel like we were at home but the view out the windows was a constant reminder that we were on an absolutely blissful vacation. When we return to Lake Murray it will be here at Tranquility, no doubt about it! Normally, we like to have different experiences if we visit the same place twice but this place can’t be topped and that was obvious to us from the moment we booked this home months in advance. I could go on and on but trust me, you have found the place you’ll want to stay for an intimate getaway for you and your significant other. Thank you for everything to Ellen and Andy!
The cottage was the perfect getaway for my husband and I. We drank our coffee on the deck each morning and enjoyed the magnificent view of Lake Murray, which can also be seen from the living room if the weather isn't cooperating.
