Our pet friendly home and, folks tell us with their wonderful reviews, very charming and warm old island home - with recent historic designation - is located a few yards from the beautiful 100-yard path to the beach and is just 20 minutes from Charleston. Kitchen and dining equipment, paper goods, lots of beach chairs, boogie board rafts, an outdoor BBQ, towels, linens, laundry room. Sullivan's Island is across the Inland Waterway from Charleston with semi-tropical terrain, wide, sandy beaches, historic Fort Moultrie, a lively and varied restaurant area, public tennis courts and an old-time playground with grandstand gazebo. Most pets warmly welcomed! Go crabbing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, and sailing in the ocean or in the inlets and creeks leading to the inland waterway. Sullivan's Island is the site of novels of many well-known authors: Edgar Allen Poe (The Gold Bug), DuBose Heyward (Porgy and Bess), and Pat Conroy (The Prince of Tides). Just 9 yards away from the footpath to the beautiful beach on the Atlantic Ocean, the duplex's upper level has private entrances, four bedrooms (one King, two with double beds, one with twin beds), two indoor bathrooms, one outdoor shower, and comfortably accommodates eight people. Living room, dining room; Ceiling fans in each room. Central Air Conditioning/Heat. Large screened front porch; Rooftop Deck with 360 degree views of the ocean, the harbor and the island. The large, screened, front porch with plush furniture serves as a second living area. A winding staircase at the end of the porch leads to the rooftop deck with comfortable lounge furniture and gorgeous 360-degree views of the island and of the ocean, if the Palmetto Trees and don't need trimming!!! It was a pleasure to work with Rachel; she left very detailed instructions for us on everything from key location to how to work various appliances in the kitchen. The house was clean and ready for us to enjoy our time in Charleston for a wedding. Our dog loved the walks on the beach and the location was just across the street from beach access -- really convenient. The home is an older one, with historic charm.
This second floor property is classic in design and fully functional. Beach access is across the road, with a convenient boardwalk. It's a very quiet neighborhood. Good restaurants are only a few miles away. The property owner, Rachel, is a delight to deal with!

Fantastic home, gorgeous setting. If you want a relaxing beach escape this is the perfect place. We felt very much at home here and were grateful for the opportunity to enjoy a place that has meant so much to the Rephan family for decades. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
What a perfect location on Sullivan's Island. We had a short walk to the beach and rode bikes all across the island. Rachel was such a gracious host, communicated well, and was extremely flexible with us. The house is quite old but I believe the listing reflects everything accurately. We stayed with our two children (5 and 2) and our nanny and it was plenty of space.
we knew the house was older but it had everything we needed and wanted. Comfy bedrooms, cute kitchen (the island was a plus for all three of us to have a hand in cooking), huge porch and roof deck. Plenty of space for my daughter's lab mix to be happy. Best of all was the location - nice and peaceful and a very short walk to the beach!

This house and rental experience was perfect for our family. It met every one of our needs and the location was even better than we imagined it would be. Rachel is a delight to work with and was very available for any issues or questions. We created some wonderful Thanksgiving memories on this trip and would recommend to anyone looking for lodging on Sullivan's Island.
We had terrible weather during our stay so we spent more time in the house than anticipated and it was wonderful: comfortable, relaxed and we felt right at home. We cooked lots of nice meals in the fully stocked kitchen and enjoyed the roofdeck when it was sunny and screened in porch when it wasn't. The island is fantastic and really easy to navigate, and our dog loved playing on the beach which was a very short walk. We would love to go back!!
