We had a excellent experience at Riverbend Retreat! It's hard not to relax there - sitting on the porch listening to the many birds; enjoying amazing sunsets; watching dolphins swim up the river. We took advantage of the equipment available for activities: kayaking; biking; and ping pong. The house itself is perfect for no-hassle vacationing. It rates five stars for cleanliness; the kitchen is well equipped; and the couches and beds are delightfully comfortable. The neighborhood is lovely and very quiet. We left reluctantly after our six days and hope to return soon.
Thank you Cindy and Jeff for a really wonderful stay. We look forward to the February when we come back. You literally thought of everything we needed. You were so responsive to questions. The view of the river is mesmerizing. Even though there were other islands and towns to explore, what we enjoyed most was sitting on the screen porch and listening to the birdsong and watching the river change. The sunsets were amazing. Thank you again!
This property was even better than described. We loved our week long stay and can't wait to book another visit. Maybe we will get to see the manatee next time. A big thank you to Cindy and Jeff who were gracious hosts and checked in on us occasionally to see if we needed anything. Until next time!
Riverside Retreat is a great place to unwind and enjoy mental
We had a wonderful experience here! The house was very well stocked with everything you could need and was exceptionally clean! We especially appreciated having the kayaks, bicycles and game tables. The screened in porch with fans was my favorite place to relax and have coffee. The view was absolutely beautiful! The bird watching was excellent and we also saw dolphins a few days! Cindy was great to work with and was very communicative. We’ve always had good luck with VRBO but this was definitely the best! I would highly recommend and we will be back!
Well kept and stocked. Was in the midst of having some outdoor projects completed, but did not hinder our time here. It looks like a set of stairs will be built from the upper deck to the ground floor, that will be a much needed addition. It would have been beneficial to have the ice maker working in the fridge, but we found ice not too far at the marina. This property is definitely a bit far from the "main" islands, (Jekyll and St. Simon), but it is worth it to come back to this quaint and quite property. Having a boat would have been very beneficial, it is too bad there are no marinas near by that provide rentals. Overall, I would enjoy staying here again.
This is by far the cleanest vrbo we have rented! The house was immaculate and was exactly as advertised. The kitchen was well stocked and basic necessities such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, seasonings were provided so that you can enjoy your vacation from day one. We enjoyed all provided amenities including the bikes and kayaks. The neighborhood was a quiet perfect place to walk our dogs. The owner, Cindy was super friendly and responsive. Thanks again Cindy for our wonderful vacation!
This is one of the best vacations we have ever been on! I can’t tell you enough how amazing this property is! The view is to die for, for starters! You can’t even capture just how beautiful it is in a picture. Not to mention they have everything you need that you could possibly imagine in a house, so much so we felt like we were home! Extremely clean and well kept! Great fishing spot, they even caught shark and stingray! We saw gators and even dolphins every single day! My kids were in heaven! This is definitely somewhere we will visit again! Oh and did I mention that Cindy is awesome!? She was extremely helpful with every question we had and was always right there to answer all calls and texts! If you’re thinking about renting this property, well just stop thinking and DO IT!!!!
We chose this property to enjoy a socially distanced holiday season with our dog. We could not be more pleased with the decision -- and not just because my wife caught her first fish, and many more, right from the dock in the backyard. If you look at the photos of the property, it's easy to see why so many are attracted to it. It is every bit as nice as the images reflect. Had it rained the entire time, which it did not, we would have just enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch overlooking the serene tidal creek and marsh, watching the dolphin make their daily rounds, the wide assortment of unique birds, and the postcard sunsets. Among the other unique wildlife we saw included an otter and Roseate spoonbill -- all from the back porch and lovely, recently renovated open-air deck. Our dog loved her walks through the quiet, neighborhood, lined with massive oak trees enveloped in Spanish moss. Probably our most enjoyable activity, however, was fishing from the dock. We got live shrimp right down the road at the marina, and caught many fish from the dock -- mostly black drum but also several speckled sea trout, which made for a great fresh fish fry. There are also kayaks and canoes available, which we did not utilize, but we did enjoy using the bicycles to explore the charming neighborhood. The area is secluded and relatively rural, but close enough to grocery stories and restaurants and fun day trips, including one we took to Jekyll Island to see their famous Christmas lights. We didn't eat out because of Covid, but had a great takeout meal from Skipper's. As for the interior of the house, it was spacious and so comfortable. The "chef's kitchen" was stocked with every utensil you could need and lots of spices and condiments. We used the stovetop grill for steaks and made a seafood boil with fresh Georgia shrimp and blue crabs. The living room was extremely cozy with a fireplace, which we used often because the cold snap that lasted for a few days. The master bedroom is huge, with the most comfortable king bed ever, a jacuzzi tub and an another fireplace. Wireless worked great, and there are TVs in nearly every room. Finally, we can't say enough about the owners, Cindy and Jeff, who took time out of their Christmas eve to help us fix the wireless after it was knocked out by a storm on our first night. They had even decorated the house for Christmas, including a tree. All in all, this experience exceeded our very high expectations. We will back.
Nice, ample living space; clean; beautiful views from upstairs and down; dolphins!; lots of birds - including roseate spoonbills and wood storks; also close to other birding spots on the Colonial Coast Birding Trail. Great getaway.
