We stayed here during the summer and were an older group. The unit IS as described. We chose it for the number of King size beds and bathrooms. When I asked for help with changing light bulbs (on a fixture too high to reach without a high ladder) the owner was quick to send someone out to replace bulbs. It was very clean. As noted by others, the 4th bedroom on the garage level has a dark basement-like feel and is removed from the rest of the unit. We would look for another place to rent next time. The master was fine but the other two king beds sagged even if described as pillow-top. The unit was darker than the pictures indicate despite our week of sunny weather. We did not have enough lights in the living area once the sun went down to read or play cards. The TV did work great! The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. But overall our feeling was that the place needs a bit more TLC and perhaps it’s time to update some of the finishes and fixtures (especially in the bathrooms) as well as the mattresses in the secondary bedrooms. A younger group who is spending most of their day engaging in extensive outdoor activities and merely wants a place to gather for a meal and crash before hitting the mountain again the next day would appreciate this space more than we did. Speaking of that, Nancy, please consider including a copy of the development’s map showing where the stairs to the clubhouse are and where the entrance to the paved path through the woods to the south of the property is located! It took us all week to find those things! If it had been in the binder it would have helped.
We had a party of 9 and we had a great time at this place. The house was as described and Nancy was great. I would stay here again.
Very quiet and serene, beautiful setting and location. Nice place to reunion, relax and meditate with the view of surroundings. Conveniently close to the lake. We really enjoyed during staying. Thank you!
Awesome home that was very clean, had comfortable beds, a terrific location and great price!.There is a Safeway and shopping center about 1/mile north up hwy 50. That lake and casinos are about 1/4 mile south of Snow bear. We will certainly be coming back!
Let me start by saying that Nancy was a wonderful homeowner and so easy to deal with. Her home was beautifully kept with lots of room for all of us. The floor plan was perfect. I loved how the kitchen and living room was on a total separate floor as the rooms. The little community that this home resides in is absolutely beautiful with tall pine trees and mountain rocks galore. Nancy's home we well equipped with all the gadgets one would need. I felt right at home and will definitely be escaping away to her home again.
Wonderful cabin with plenty of open space.
We loved our stay here over the holidays. The townhome cabin is close to all amenities in South Lake Tahoe, just down the street from grocery stores and minutes away from the village. All bedrooms were well stocked with blankets and pillows on king beds, although the blankets looked kind of dated (like from a hotel). The kitchen is large and bright and had everything we needed (after looking around...Nancy was very helpful). The living room is a good size but could use a coffee table and a little more light at night. The fireplace was easy to turn on (I'm not sure why other reviewers had a problem). The stairs are a trek though, especially in the 7000 elevation. The bottom basement bedroom is, like other reviewers and description states, more set apart from the rest of the house as you need to go down another set of stairs to get to it. We stayed down there with our 2 small children and kinda liked that we had our own bedroom and bathroom away from the others. The only real issue we had was the hot air vents and noise from the furnace in that room...we adjusted the vents but it was still stifling, so we ended up opening and closing the basement door to let cold air in to mix with hot. We're glad we brought a humidifier. The hot tub is in the basement and I didn't get a chance to use it but another person in our party did, and she loved it. The parking is ok...only 1 car can fit in the garage because the hottub is in there, and you have to back it in kinda sideways. Two other cars can fit in the front of the garage, and it looks like they're jutting out but it's ok, everyone does it. All directions were clear for everything in the house and garage. I wouldn't recommend very small children because there are slate stairs right beside the kitchen and living room, where everyone is, and you had to keep watching out for them. They provided a safety gate but it wouldn't stay put because it was kinda janky, so we just bought one.
Our stay at Nancy's house was the best trip we have had to Tahoe so far. We started to come with the kids in 2009 and have made at least one trip per year since then. This was our first stay at this property. On this trip there were 9 of us and everyone was very comfortable. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 of which have king sized beds and one with a queen/twin on the garage level. It worked out very well for the group we were with. The garage level room is a little isolated, which could be a positive or a negative. We found it to be a non-issue, but a person that is adverse to climbing stairs needs to climb two flights to get to the living area on the top floor. So if you are planning a trip, be sure that whoever gets the room with the two beds can do the extra stairs. All of the other bedrooms go up one flight to get to the living/dining area. We enjoyed having a garage as well. If you have three vehicles, you will need to park one in the garage. We had two, so we were able to keep our suitcases, snow toys, and other items in the garage, giving our stay a homier feel since we did not need to clutter the bedrooms with such things. If I have to find something to complain about, it would be that the living room fireplace did not work immediately. However, Nancy had someone come over and get it going for us and we were good to go. So I guess that this negative reflects positively on her. We know that everything will not always be perfect, but how a property owner responds in those situations speaks volumes. She took care of business and we appreciate that. We showed up on a Sunday and left the following Sunday. 7 days in Tahoe and one small complaint that is actually a compliment for her is a successful stay in my book. If we ever come up to Tahoe again with as many people as we had this time, we will definitely be looking at Nancy's place as our first choice.
Our church's small group stayed at Nancy's lodge in March. She was so helpful from the time of booking up until the day we left! The rooms were clean, the instructions were clear, and everything was functioning. The fireplace was having issues, but Nancy sent someone to the rescue right away! We loved the little travel toiletries in the bathroom - so cute! The kitchen had all of the essentials that we needed. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to use the hot tub, but maybe next time! The lodge is really close to the Stateline, casinos, and Heavenly. We had no issues finding it or getting in. Would love to see it during the summer to put that deck to use. Thank you, Nancy, for everything! We had a great time!
What we enjoyed most is the upper level of the home. Living room, kitchen, and dining room occupy one large space. So a group preparing dinner doesn't have to be isolated from a group sitting by the fireplace or tv. Few minutes drive to the Gondola. Uber and Lyft are generally accessible. Non surge pricing was ~$8, with surge ~$25. The owner is great to work with. This was my first time booking through VRBO. As a result, I inadvertently missed a couple of deadlines for responding with documentation. She had the chance to cancel my booking and place it back on the market. Instead she took into account my inexperience with VRBO and patiently worked with me until everything was squared away.
There were 7 of us staying at Snowbear and we found it to be very comfortable and convenient. There was plenty of room for everyone and we were only a 10 minute drive from the Gondola. The hot tub in the garage was an odd sight but we still ended up using the hot tub regularly- worked great! We would definitely come back again.
Excellent house with few gotchas. Electronic equipments are little outdated. Parking is little painful if you have more then 3 cars. If those are not a priority then this home is great.
Place was exactly as described, very comfortable. Nancy was very helpful with information about the place and we had no issues. I would recommend to others looking for a 4 bedroom in south tahoe.
Very good rental place. Our family enjoyed the stay.
We had a great time at Snowbear Lodge. The condo was awesome and so was the owner. Snowbear was just as awesome as Nancy described. The location was great (5 minute drive to downtown lake Tahoe), the condo was very clean with lots of amenities. I would highly recommend Snowbear Lodge to anyone traveling to the Lake Tahoe area.
