My husband and I, along with my cousins from Ohio rented this wonderful condo from July 1-6, 2011. The hospitality that John showed us was amazing...bottle of wine awaiting us, along with fresh flowers and chocolates. The kitchen was nearly fully stocked and we didn't have to buy any spices or condiments...... This is the third time that Ron and I have stayed at Kamaole Sands, and we have found the jewel that we have sought. The view from the Lanai is amazing......and was the perfect spot to watch all the fireworks on the 4th of July. We will definitely be staying there every time we come to Maui from now on. Can't wait to come back! Aloha from the great state of Alabama.....Roll Tide Roll!
John and Maysie – Mahalo!! We had just a wonderful vacation - this condo has everything you would need and is close to everything. John was the only person that we met and he was so accommodating. He brought us flowers and coffee when we arrived - what an awesome man! We had a family wedding and he brought us flowers again for the rehearsal dinner. A couple of nights we had issues with loud neighbors and I called John and he handled everything. It is so nice to have an owner there that you call if there are any issues. The quiet times here are from 10 pm to 8 am. If it is relaxing you want that is what you will find here. The pool was never that crowded – most people go to the beach. The beach is right across the street for the people who like that. There is noise from the traffic on the main road you mostly hear it at night, but if that won’t bother you there is nothing negative I can say about this place. The other family members staying at Kamole Sands had issues with the birds early in the morning – so either way you will have some noise. We would highly recommend this place to all!!!
We just returned from our 8 night stay in this amzing condo! We will never stay in a hotel again when in Maui! The location was unbeatable with the wonderful trade winds coming through the unit....no need for air conditioning! John and Maysie are gracious hosts and made us feel very welcome. I am already researching our next time to visit Maui and stay here. Kihei is a gem of a little town with many wonderful restaurants and a walk across the street takes you to a wonderful beach with many amenities. I cannot say enough about this little slice of paradise. We live in Santa Cruz, CA and have some paradise there too but this is truly heaven! Mahalo!
This place is great. Unit closest to the water, parking next to the elevator, and John the owner was great to deal with, even brought us flowers from his garden. If/when i'm back in maui and need a two bedroom it will be this one for sure. the grounds at Kamaole Sands are beautifully maintained and are great for families and groups etc. Lots of BBQs on site (all newer Webers) .... plus mai tai wednesdays! ;)
We stayed at this gem for three weeks in December, 2014. The kitchen has a new glass top range and a new fridge and a ninja for making the perfect Pina Colada. The cupboards were stocked with all the spices you will need for grilling up fresh fish on the new webber BBQ's. There are lots of beach accessory's, chairs, umbrella, toys, coolers etc in the storage closet. John and Maysie are great to deal with, John brought us flowers from their garden and gave us lots of tips for beaches and restaurants to check out. You can watch the sunset from the front or back of the unit and can walk to Kamaole III in just a few steps across the road. The complex itself is great we have stayed 6 times and just keep coming back for the the beautiful grounds, great pool and of course Mai Tai Wednesdays.
We were in Maui with one of our daughters for the first week in August to attend a wedding. The unit was perfect for us, John agreed to set up the main as the master which worked out well. We only ate breakfast in the unit as there were many dinners connected with the wedding. The beach across the street was nice, at times the waves were good for body and boogie board surfing. Beautiful view of the sunset from the beach. Close to the Maui golf courses, and many places nearby to go to for happy hour/good food (we had a great time at the Monkeypod and also liked the restaurant in Lahaina upstairs and across the street from the banyan tree and courthouse - they had Newcastle on tap!). We went to Haleakala for sunrise - definitely worth getting out of bed at 4 AM or so - and also enjoyed our visit to Paia, complete with a trip to Charley's Bar, part owned by Willie Nelson. Although it was very hot and humid during our stay, the nights were comfortable as a nice breeze came through the unit if we left the lanai door and windows to the main floor bedroom open. All in all a great experience for us, my only recommendation would be that John consider putting a lock on the front screen door as I think that would cool things down even more at night if the front door could be left open (I didn't care but my wife was nervous about it!). Mahalo!
My two sisters and I spent a week in this great condo. Now that we are all retired we could finally find the time to take our first vacation together. Our first week was spent in Honolulu and after the hustle and bustle of that city and not so nice accommodation it was wonderful to be met by John Tam, welcomed with cold drinks and shown around his comfortable, very clean and well equipped rental unit. We enjoyed every minute there! By following his suggestions with regards to keeping doors open and windows open and using just the screens we kept this unit cool and pleasant all the time. We did not use the air conditioner at once. He phoned us during our week's stay to see if we needed anything and to assure us that he was there for us and to contact him if we needed to. I felt this was a great touch as we found out he was a wonderful source of information! The beautiful garden flowers he delivered midweek were such a lovely personal touch! This condo is just steps away from the beach, snorkelling and trail walking. Its a short drive to anywhere you want to go! The street is busy and as all city streets are has lots of traffic noise! By keeping the street side window closed at night we found the noise level to be much less and the condo still cool. I did not find the noise level to be an issue! We enjoyed our stay here very much and would recommend this condo to every one! To meet the person behind the emails and also one who is such a caring owner to me was a real plus!
We spent 2 weeks in this condo and it had all the comforts of home. The location is amazing and the views are wonderful. It was a treat to meet John Tam and all his wonderful information of the area. We loved the flowers Maysie sent from her garden. It was wonderful to enjoy the breezes blowing through the condo and did not need the A/C once. The location is perfect. I would return again any time.
Spent 5 nights in this unit. Best location! Even though the temperature flirted with 90 degrees in the daytime, there was absolutely no need to run the air conditioner even though there was one. This unit is breezy and beautiful. John stayed in contact with me from the time of booking up until our arrival, answering questions I had with very thorough responses. There were even fresh flowers left on our first full day. Just added a touch of comfort and care to an amazing experience. This was a great find and I would definitely love to stay here again!
Great location. This area doesn't have beach side resorts, this condo is the best location in the complex for access to Kam III. For the price you really can't beat it. This place is most perfect for either two friends, or a family with 2-3 children.
We enjoyed our stay so close to the beach. Very comfortable and the owners were very helpful in providing information relevant to our stay on Maui.
I know more about this condo than anyone other than its owner's, John and Maysie Tam, the reason being that I stayed in it for 16 of the 21 days we were in Maui, as that is how long I was confined to it, I had the flu. We had extremely warm weather, yet had no need of the new air conditioner, that is available, as refreshing breezes caressed and refreshed as they passed through. Three out of four main floor walls that have screened windows and doors which facilitate the comfort. You see evidence of the pride and care the Tams have for their unit, in all the appliances are newer, renos they have accomplished include brand new granite kitchen counters and cabinets as well as bathrooms. There is a pleasant mirrored wall, on the south, that extends from the living area through the dining area, which gives perception of additional width to the condo. Along the north wall is an excellent display of artwork and posters. Expect a warm welcome from John, as well as occasional phone calls just to make sure you are enjoying your accommodation. We were part of a group four, Pullen Families, in the resort, 16 people in total, we cooked for and entertained the group easily three times. The lanai closet is very well equipped to outfit you for the beach, the ocean and picnicking etc. A variety of balls etc including basket balls are provided. You are very close to everything available to do in Maui, John will comprehensively outline, in hand writing, if you wish, what to do and where best to do it, taking into consideration your tastes and budget. For example he showed us Cuatro's as an inexpensive alternative seafood restaurant, but with comparable fare to Mama's Fish House. He told us to mention his name if needed, we were denied a reservation first request, but his name made our reservation possible. To top it off John showed up early in the first week with a flower arrangement of Maysie's from her garden. They lasted the duration of our stay. What more can I say. John Pullen,
Our family (my wife and I, our son and his two children) stayed in this unit from August 8th to the 16th. From the moment we enquired about availability until we arrived at the condo, John was promptly answered all of our questions and was just the best host! The unit is exactly as pictured and it was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Beautiful floral arrangement from Maysie greeted us on our arrival. The kitchen was equipped with everything that one could need and we enjoyed cooking at the convenient barbecue location near building 10. John came by on the second day and enquired if everything was OK and then answered all our questions about Maui. He had great suggestions about activities and where to eat. We loved being so close to Kamaole 3 beach- short walk to enjoy the water or just to marvel at the incredible sunsets that occur every night. Near the end of our visit, John came by with a fresh floral arrangement and to wish us well. Mahalo, John and Maysie for the use of your home and for making our vacation so special. We have no hesitation in recommending your hidden treasure to others and we hope that our paths will cross again. The Calder family
