We can't say enough about Barbara and Dave...very warm and welcoming. Condo was immaculate with all amenities you could think of....even OJ, muffins, wine and snacks when we got there! (Much appreciated just off the plane from Europe!) Location was perfect for beach, walking, restaurants, groceries. We will definitely use them again for company coming to the area.

Stayed here over summer break with my husband and two kids, we had a wonderful time. The condo is beautiful, from the spacious living room to the master-bedroom, everything was top notch. So calm, beautiful, comfortable and nice. Amazing redwoods all around the condos. Pool and gym. We are surfers and we spent most days at the beach and in the ocean ????????Took walks to the harbor, shops and nearby restaurants. The kids loved ending the day sitting on the balcony with a hot chocolate. It was a month we keep thinking back to. It was heaven! This place is great! Our experience at the condo at Swan Lakes Complex in Santa Cruz was beyond our expectations. We had researched extensively other properties to stay at for the month of August 2015, while we visited with our son and his family, who live in Santa Cruz. Value, location, amenities, and most important clean and modern were of priority to us. Since we live in New Jersey, our son and daughter-in-law checked out five other properties for us that we had identified. These properties were in their words, "like living in Grandma's house." The facilities were worn and in need of renovations for the price we were willing to pay. Once my daughter-on-law, stepped into the Swan Lake condo she knew that this was the place we would want. Barbara and Dave, the owners, were easy to deal with and very attentive to making sure our stay was perfect. Once, we settled in to the condo, it was like living in our own home. It met my white glove inspection of cleanliness and modern. Everything was like new. The kitchen was outfitted with everything you would need and all items were like new. There was ample towels, sheets, cleaning supplies, beach chairs, etc. Everything you would need. We did not have to go buy anything. The pool was right outside our door step and was used everyday by our grandson. As we have been to Santa Cruz, well over ten times since our son located in the area after college, we are very familiar with the sights and sounds of the area. We are drawn to the beautiful beaches, walking paths, restaurants, weather, and the life style in general. Staying at the condo at Swan Lakes Complex was our home away from home! You will not be disappointed in this property and what the area has to offer.

We had an amazing stay at the condo on the Swan Lakes Complex in Santa Cruz. We are an English family of four and had travelled extensively through South America before arriving at the condo. We were met by Barbara and Dave who were the most accommodating and gracious hosts. The condo was beautifully decorated and had every home comfort which was so welcoming. The complex is extremely well equipped with a lovely outdoor pool and gym. It is also very close to the lovely Twin Lakes Beach which was always a hub of activity. Swan Lakes was also a really friendly place to stay and it was great to get to know some of the people who lived there. We spent an idyllic month in Santa Cruz using it as our base to visit the scenic Central Coast of California. It was a real wrench to leave but we will be back and would not hesitate to recommend the condo.

We had the opportunity to sneak away from the midwest winter for 6 weeks in Jan and Feb. We were very fortunate to find this condo as it was perfect for our needs. It was equipped with anything we wanted or needed for our stay. Perfect location, steps away from the beach, heated swimming pool and a workout room, (which was updated while we were there). The small balcony provided a quiet spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine and listen to the crashing surf. We were just a short drive from the Monterey Bay area sights, wineries and Redwood forests. The area has some great restaurants and shopping just a short drive away and a fun Farmers market within walking distance on Sundays. The owner met us upon arrival, walked us through the condo and it's features and surprised us with some "welcome goodies". The condo has been well maintained and updated. The owners had prepared the condo with toiletries , paper goods and cleaning supplies so we didn't have to rush out immediately to find a grocery. The condo complex itself was quiet and also very well maintained. From watching the sunsets from the beach, discovering local wineries, enjoying the boardwalk, visiting the markets, playing golf, touring the Monterey Bay area, to walking up to the taqueria on the corner,we could not have asked for a better visit and like the other reviewers, really hated to say goodbye.

We loved the condo which was so well equipped, beautifully decorated, very spacious, and with an ideal location. It is only a short walk from some restaurants and convenience stores and most importantly the beach. We loved the local Mexican at the corner, the Argentinean restaurant, and of course the Crow's Nest, which is fun to get to along the beach. This unit was incredibly clean, spacious, and well taken care of. It's on the second floor overlooking the pool, which was great for our kids. The unit had a reserved covered parking spot, wireless internet, and ample amounts of closet space. Barbara and Dave were there to welcome us. They are such a lovely couple and made us feel right at home. It is incredible how Barbara thought of everything: there was some shampoo and soap there for the first few days detergent for the dishwasher, cleaning supplies and paper towels, coffee and some pepper, sugar and salt to last a couple days, Britta filtered water, lots of towels, nightlights, hairdryer, beach chairs, sun umbrella, games, books, DVDs, and even two bottles of wine, a couple of candy treats, cheese and crackers. The owners really put a lot of effort into making the accommodation incredibly comfortable and we were so sad to leave at the end of our stay. We will recommend this condo to all of our friends visiting the area, and are thinking of staying here during our kitchen remodel!

We rented the property for a month and were very pleased with it. It's in great condition, was meticulously clean when we arrived, and is very well equipped. Internet connection is fast and reliable enough for work use, and the shared pool just outside the balcony is a great asset. The nearest beach is just 5-10 mins walk away and the "Crows Nest" became our favourite restaurant. It's a great place for families with kids or teenagers who want to spend time on the beach or surf. Walking into Santa Cruz centre or to the Boardwalk isn't really feasible, and a car is highly recommended, however there's a reliable bus service into Santa Cruz town centre and to the shopping mall in Capitola. We loved the place and would definitely consider renting it again!

The owners were so hospitable and gracious. They really went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed to enjoy our stay. We loved the morning walks down to Twin lakes beach which was only a five minute walk from the Condo. We recommend it!

We recently spent three weeks at the condo during a home renovation and everything was just perfect. This rental truly feels like a guesthouse and the owners genuinely care about their guests, making them feel welcome and comfortable in every way. Upon arrival we immediately noticed many nice little touches, like toys for our five-year-old girl, snacks & fresh milk, and even a bottle of wine. We wholeheartedly recommend!

We had an excellent stay in Santa Cruz at the condo! It was spacious and very well equipped :) we were looked after by Dave and Barbara. They were really friendly and very helpful. I couldn't recommend this place enough. If your in Santa Cruz you would be crazy not to rent this place!! Thanks for an awesome experience :D

This condo provided a perfect base for my family of three during our Monterrey Bay vacation in July, 2013. We've stayed in a variety of "beach" homes in the Santa Cruz area and this was one of the best. Why? Here are just a few reasons: Everything in the VRBO listing describing the property and the accompanying photos was accurate. The property was very clean and well-maintained. The kitchen included all the tools we needed to cook meals, an added perk being the condo is a short walk from an excellent Santa Cruz Sunday farmer's market. The condominium complex was very quiet except for the happy noises of children playing in the pool almost every afternoon -- which was usually a joy -- or meant it was time to get out of the condo and walk two blocks to the beach or hop in the car to head out for some other Santa Cruz area adventure. During our glorious month in Santa Cruz, adventures included the Mystery Spot, the beaches along Hwy 1 to Half Moon Bay, whale watching, SUP (stand up paddle boarding), Moss Landing restaurants and exploring the Elkhorn Slough. Last, but certainly not least, the owners, Barbara and Dave were simply incredible. They were attentive throughout our month stay, responding to our questions and concerns by phone or email (our choice). For example, near the end of our stay when the microwave wouldn't start, a replacement was delivered the next day. And yet they were never intrusive, so the place truly felt like our home.

Barbara and Dave are gracious and caring hosts! They are warm and attentive, while honoring one's privacy. The pride they take in their condo is well merited. We especially appreciated the over the top touches, such as toiletries, sewing kit, welcoming treats, etc.. Any question or difficulty was quickly and efficiently handled to meet any special need. Thank you both.

The location of the Condo was ideal in many ways. A short and beautiful walk to Twin Lakes beach; close to any and all kinds of grocery shopping, and centrally located between downtown Santa Cruz and Capitola. The Condo was immaculate and had everything you would need to make yourself at home and the rate is a great deal. Barbara and her husband were very easy to do business with and made the process of renting very easy. They are wonderful people who rent out a wonderful condo in Santa Cruz.

My family stayed here for the month of July. We have a three year old daughter and she especially loved playing in the pool, which is right outside the balcony. The pool does get a lot of use in the summertime but we were never too bothered by the noise, which would end by sunset. This 2nd floor condo gets a lot of natural lighting which I appreciated. In general, it was very quiet and peaceful there. Nice updated kitchen and bathroom. The condo is a short walk to a nice beach and we also took many walks behind the property where there are many interesting trails. There is a pay laundry room a couple minutes walk away which we used a lot. No problems here and super nice people who own this place!

This rental is a lovely, tastefully furnished two bedroom condo with all the amenities that made it feel like a "home away from home". The two owners, Barbara and Dave, are gracious hosts, who paid tremendous attention to detail by making sure there were extra touches to help our stay more comfortable (all manner of kitchen utensils, or having beach chairs and umbrellas available for us to use for the beach) and made themselves available for our needs. It was the perfect place from which to see the sites of Santa Cruz while feeling like we had a home to return to. Our family very much enjoyed our stay there. Thanks much Barbara and Dave!

The photos say it all, everything you see is there and much more. The owners are the most amazing people I have ever come across, so helpful, so kind and fantastic to have some new friends away from home I definitely plan to return. I used this apartment as a training base for my Olympic trial preparations visiting many of the local forests and reserves for run training. There is a swimming pool just a 15minute walk away and of course there is always the beach just a block away. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting time away, a beach holiday or just a nice place to stay. Everything will be exactly how you picture it from the photos and descriptions on this website.
